A good winter quote/short poem?
Its about that time when the world goes into a sleep, and I would like to change the background on my computer to something more wintery. I have a great picture of a snow storm but I want a nice quote or short poem that I can put on it. Does anyone have a favorite winter time quote/short story/saying?

Oh the weather outside is frightful,
But the fire is so delightful,
And since we’ve no place to go,
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
“When autumn’s gone and trees have lost their leaves,
The branches wait for snow that they’ll receive.”
…I just made it up, but it’s better than nothing.
“Sometimes our fate resembles a fruit tree in winter. Who would think that those branches would turn green again and blossom, but we hope it, we know it.”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Samui desu ne?
Translation (from Japanese): Cold, isn’t it?
Here, I’ll write you a haiku:
Winter really sucks
I don’t want to go outside
But pup has to poop:(
@J0E lol a quote like that will have to be followed by spontaneous carolling and since I’m in class this would be very inappropriate
@jfos @sliceswiththings very nice, maybe we should have a fluther poetry book
What do a Christmas tree
And a priest have in comparison?
The answer is simple to see
Their balls are just for decoration.
“The woods are lovely,
dark and deep,
but I have promises to keep,
and miles to go before I sleep.”
Robert Frost, from Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
@janbb Darn you for taking my answer. :-)
Link the picture, please, for inspiration?
Dust of Snow, by Robert Frost
The way a crow
Shook down on me
The dust of snow
From a hemlock tree
Has given my heart
A change of mood
And saved some part
Of a day I had rued.
“Winter is nature’s way of saying, ‘Up yours.’” – Robert Byrne
“There are only two seasons: Winter and Baseball.” – Bill Veeck
I’d love to see the picture too.
@Foolaholic, lurve for a great selection.
I like to use seasonal pictures on my desktop. Sometimes I use them for the opposite season—a frozen pond for a sweltering summer day, a desert scene that radiates heat for the chill of January. But I do have two favorites for this time of year: [ Winter Red ] and [ Christmas house ]. I live too much in words and would not add any to my pictures, each of which is worth at least a thousand.
@Jeruba yeah that’s pretty much the exact picture except the one I took is my old road so it’s a nice reminder of my time there
Seasons once possessed
Physical beauty
That her friends were once able
To vividly see
But now they see the horror
In her heart when she cries
But everyone still knows her
Based off of the strength in her eyes
Her hair once beautiful
Turns white as snow
Even refuses
To continue to grow
Her skin once dark
Turned paler than white
She was aging fast
And becoming too tired to fight
As snowflakes fall
From the Goddesses tears above
Seasons says good bye
To her friends, her family, and her true love
