Regarding something you've known all of your life, has anyone presented it to you, years later, in such a totally new way that it made a much greater and lasting impact?

This is kind of gross, but it was prompted my the question of how to tell a girlfriend that she has bad breath.

I’ve known all of my life that I needed to floss, and I always have, but it used to be somewhat sporadic. Then about ten years ago a dental hygienist said (as a general observation…I didn’t feel it was directed AT me) “When you don’t floss, it’s like all of that food is sitting in-between your teeth, and just rots, like it does in a trash can on a hot, 98 degree day. Meat is especially bad.”

OMG!!…...Have you ever smelled rotting meat??? OMG! Since then I’m much more regular about my flossing! And I use toothpicks too…....

Yes, I always suspected my wife had cheated on me, and when she finally told me, we had already been divorced (I was asking her to get back together and she told me just to hurt me.) The entire 7–8 years previous made sense and for a brief moment in time I felt like an enlightened being, ominous and seeing through the pages of time. We are back together now, married again for 4+ years, so I suppose it has made a much greater and lasting impact.

Wow from flossing to cheating

well sometimes when I dance, I know I’ve danced a particular way before but then my body has some sort of an epiphany and really ‘gets it’

@Simone_De_Beauvoir It’s called being in a “zone.” One of the coolest experiences anyone could ever have in their lifetimes, IMO.

well, the original question leaves quite a bit of room to be applied to all areas of life I think.

Yes, it does…...Basically it’s, “Wow. I never thought of it that way before!”

yea, and those years in retrospect did that for me in that moment.

A classmate once gave me a copy of Cinema 4D R9. It opened up an entire new field for creativity to me.

I’ve known love from my parents all my life, but my ex presented it to me in such a way that I will never forget her.
