It’s not worth playing these games. Pick up a real instrument. The effect is much more rewarding to yourself.
I think these games are perfectly worth playing, while I don’t necessarily like the songs I still enjoy playing. It’s pretty addictive. Although, I like Guitar Hero better. :] There’s not much of a difference between Rockband 1 and 2 as far as gameplay – RB2 just a new song playlist, and some extra features were added like “Battle of the Bands” and the “Drum Trainer”. They also made some minor improvements with the instruments. The Beatles edition blows these two out of the water.
Thanks both of you….good answers but i am not 100% sure yet:)
reason for me for buying these game is to enjoy the drum since I can’t not afford the real ones
is there anyone who played both and have opinion on the game??? like pros and cons??
I agree with @Gokey that Beatles Rock Band is way better than 1 or 2. That is, if you like the Beatles.
I don’t have any of these games personally, but each of them seem to have the same basic gameplay. I would suggest looking over what songs are available in each game and see which you’d rather play. Looking at reviews on places like GameFAQs or GameSpot couldn’t hurt, either.
Get RB1 because it’s going to be cheaper. See if you like it- then you can buy individual songs through the console.
what im concerned about is actually the instruments
I heard people say bad things about RB1’s instruments..
and can’t really tell whether RB2’s instruments are worth compare to how much more i pay
You should get Rock Band 2 instead of 1. The instruments are better, and there’s more songs. (Also, you can just buy the RB1 disc as a standalone if you want the songs on there.)
Also, don’t listen to the haters who hate fun.
@Qingu if by hater you mean me, then thank you. Yes I hate these games. I’ve also been playing guitar for 14years & I can tell you the closest thing to a real instrument on those games is drums & even that is far fetched. I hate the message it sends to children, because instead of taking the time to learn a real instrument they get instant gradification with these games.
@Axemusica, you have a weird perspective on the “point” of these games that is not shared by a single person I know who plays them.
When I play the guitar on Rock Band, I don’t think I’m playing a real guitar. It’s more like a form of dancing. It’s a way to experience the music in a visceral manner, not a way to imitate the actual playing of music. Your post betrays a pretty myopic understanding of the nature of Rock Band as a videogame.
And frankly, I get kind of pissed off when I am “judged” for enjoying Rock Band. The games have not taught me how to play the guitar, but they have dramatically expanded my musical taste. I can appreciate many more genres of music after playing them, and I can appreciate many more intricacies of songs when I hear them. For those of us who don’t have the time, money, or inclination to invest in “real instruments,” Rock Band is still a wonderful experience and an amazing way to experience and learn about music (and to have fun with your friends).
To say that the only meaningful way for children to interact with music is by spending years learning how to play musical instruments is pretentious nonsense. And it’s especially frustrating because the evidence shows that these games are getting more and more kids into music—which is why music lovers like, oh, the fucking surviving Beatles members are into them. It makes me wonder if you enjoy playing instruments because you enjoy music, or if it’s because you enjoy the status of being a virtuoso.
Hey guys, chill out…...all i want is piece of advice not an argument
to be honest, both of your comment helped me in a way.
“Quingu”‘s comment helped me understand not to expect too much of real music instrument experience while “Axemusica” basically answer my original question of RB1 vs RB2.
Thanks both of you.,.,.,so no need to argue;;;; everyone has their own opinion so lets respect them…okay?
Damn and I had a whole speech prepared and everything. I was just at work and didn’t want to poke at my iPhone for an hour, lol, but yes you are right and respecting each others points of view is the right way to go. Good luck with your decision. (^_^”)-b
