Longshot question: What is the salary range for a "Vocational Specialist" in San Francisco?

Asked by emilyrose (2277points) December 10th, 2009

My friend is about to get a job offer and has NO IDEA what the salary range might be and what she should ask for. The job involves interpreting in ASL (American Sign Language) and working with people with various disabilities. She has ten years of experience. She thinks they might offer low 30s. Any idea? Thanks!

I work in Career & Technical Education in California; if you google: Labor Market Indicators Interpreters California, this is the first link; the Ca. Empoyment Development Department has this statistical data online as well.

Here is a job opening in San Francisco. The salary is quoted at $35–39k, with benefits.

And here is one in near-by Oakland that lists salary as $1,682.25 – $2007.75 Bi-weekly ($43,738,50 to $52,201.50), although for this one you need to speak Spanish.
