Serenity. In the hope that it would bring peace and serenity to our universe. Well, this planet anyway.
Lurve for a question asked from a former AnswerBag user that isn’t about AnswerBag
@Wonder Aw! That’s nice.
Pluto 2— Electric Boogaloo.
or
Pluto 2 This time it’s for real.
I would name it DMV in hopes to clear up the waiting lines in Jersey.
I would call it Pie in the Sky!
It would be named after me, of course.
Urectum… distant cousin of Uranus
@jfos – Why did I know that question was going to be asked?
If I say my name I will have to kill everyone here.
But, if I get the planet I will tell. :-)
@jmah Noooooooooooooooooooooooo!
@ChazMaz I was actually asking on someone else’s behalf…
@jfos – Ok. :-) Well I put it out there any way.
Couple of GA’s for you.
Hades. Because the solar system really needs a planet named after the ruler of the underworld.
How about “Astro Chuck” after the 6 year old (so apropo)?
Chuck Norris approves of this message.
Altair IV
I imagine it would be Fantastic ;)
Sagan. After a certain Carl I’ve heard of…
Chaos! I’m just in a funny mood mate! lol!
How are they ordinary? They only seem that way because we’ve become so accustomed to hearing them. A new planet with an anomalous name would eventually become the same way, ordinary.
Anyway, I would name my planet Joe.
Tiwilliger P. Rothbottom III
… also known as “Bob”
Why? Because I have a strange sense of humor.
depends on the planet and what it’s like, but I think I’d just stick with the whole ancient gods theme and name it Vesta or Hephaestus or something (Hephaestus is the name of the planet which supposedly broke up to become the asteroid belt after Mars, and there was a suggestion to name the 11th planet Athena, but then astronomers simply decided to relegate Pluto instead).
The planets are usually named after greek/roman gods. How about Indian? Name it Shiva.
Tyrant X Series would be a great name for a planet
I like the theme of the gods that we have going. I guess I would want to know, is it a BIG planet like all our favorites? If so, I would want to give it a real name, another Roman god or goddess, one that hasn’t been used…perhaps Apollo, or Juno. Or leaving Roman/Greek, how about Thor? But if it was a teensy weensy planet (micro planet, or sorry, I guess the technical term is dwarf planet), I would want it to have a name reflecting its significance, like Robigo (the goddess of corn), or Subrincinator (the god of weeding), or Potina (the goddess of children’s drinks).
Now that I look more closely at your question, which is how to name “this” new planet, I realize I don’t pay enough attention to the news. Or maybe I do. Since I now presume this isn’t so much a theoretical question, my ideas after the words “teensy weensy” about sum up my opinion on this. I think I’ll be praying to Subrincinator next spring to protect my lawn. Hope y’all have a good weekend. :)
JimBob.Because I said so.
well , due to the fact that the names of planets correspond to the days of the week (french and english) ,, we should follow that ling and use months or calender units as deca for decade etc… jan january etc… ” k.i.s.s – keep it simple stupid” ;-)
@lucillelucillelucille OK then!! We have a winner!! Planet Jim Bob in the Walton Galaxy right there with Planet Billy Bob, Planet Jim Bob, Planet Purnell Bob, Planet Sue Bob, Planet….
