What's going on with my iPhone?
I left my iPhone plugged into my computer all night, and when I took it out this morning, it wasn’t working. If I hit the home button or the button on the top, the only thing that happens is the screen gets a little lighter. I can’t turn it on or off; I’ll hold the top button and nothing will happen. The volume control on the side still works, and when I hold the home button voice control works, but I can’t do anything else. My computer still recognizes it when I plug it in, but the screen is still dark. I think I just received a text message because it just vibrated and the screen lit up a little, but I can’t turn it on. What should I do?

Have you tried holding both the top button and the front button down at the same time? Mine has been doing that too and the AT&T guy told me that you should hold them both down til it restarts. Good luck! :-)
Did you try a hard reset or did you just try to shut it off and it wouldn’t?
Try holding down the top right button and the middle bottom indented one simultaneously till the apple logo appears. Then release and let it do it’s thing.
did you turn the brightness on the screen to zero?
If that doesn’t work, letbus know. There is one other step to try.
@toomuchcoffee911 Yay! I’m glad!! Mine went off for about two hours before I figured it out. It made me so mad I almost threw it! I’m not that impressed with it and I have only had it for two weeks :-)
The other one is to hold the top right down and slide the arrow when it appears. Hold till the apple logo appears, let it donuts thing, etc.
If my phone is really cantankerous I’ll do both one right after the other.
@SoldierAngel I don’t know what I would have done! I use mine for everything! :D
@Buttonstc I tired that but literally nothing was showing up on the screen.
@soldier
I had the same thing happen when I first got my phone. I was ready to return it.
I went into the Apple store and the Mac Genius explained to me that doing the hard reset is like rebooting your computer cuz it gets rid of all the temporary files.
He advised doing it after every new app downloaded or after a lot of Internet browsing.
It’s pretty much the cure all for whatever ails the phone. I usually do it at least once a day.
@coffee.
You have to hold it down until the white logo returns. Then release.
Sometimes it takes a minute or so.
@eponymoushipster Haha, I kept thinking that’s what I did, even though it’s not possible.
@Buttonstc I tried that but for whatever reason, the Apple wasn’t showing up. Luckily it’s working now!
@Buttonstc Thanks, no one ever told me that! I’m gonna start trying that. He did tell me that you need to shut your phone off every night though, which seems kinda dumb to me since someone from work is always trying to get ahold of me!
The ATT guys don’t know. They think they do, but I get my info from Apple people.
The ATT guy was confused. Shutting your phone off ant longer than a minute or so does NOTHING.
I don’t turn mine off overnight ever. I’ve had it for a year now. The hard reset info is what saved my bacon.
You are aware that you’re entitled to free phone support, right?
You can call directly
1–800-MY IPHONE
Or you can call the ATT and follow the voice prompts for iPhone users and that transfers you to Apple.
If it’s after 9 pm or on weekends then I call Apple directly since it’s free cell minutes.
If it’s during prime calling time when minutes are charged, I go thru ATT to get to Apple because you are not charged minutes for calling ATT.
I’m cheap that way. :)
@Buttonstc Lol! Thank you very much! I have to remember that!
