What kind of people belittle another person's degree or educational qualifications when these are not needed for doing the job?

I have seen this happen where people without cause will call another person’s qualifications fake or find someway to make the person small. Has anyone had this happen and how did you deal with it?

I think it is powered by jealousy, insecurity and the belittler trying to convince himself/herself that he/she is “better” then the person. Also, some people are close-minded and think if someone doesn’t do things the same way they do then they’re stupid or wrong. I think “live and let live”
