A :)
But I do alot of programming so maybe it looks better for me ;)
B
But I try my best not to. I usually just end up skipping the emoticon :/
D) other
I don’t use parenthetical emoticons. (And if I were to use them, I’d put them on the outside of the parentheses.) :]
D. If I want to end something in parentheses with an emoticon, I use [...] instead of (...).
Wow. I’m usually an A-person myself, but i see that there are alot of varying solutions here.
I use B, but I prefer to skip either the emoticon or the parentheses, if possible.

In this case, I would go with D, and use a verticon without parentheses.

ToT
o.O
Of course, I never use emoticons anyway, so . . .
I would trust my language to portray the emotion. If I have to use an emoticon then I go back and check my word choices. That’s just me being a fuddy-duddy though.
If I did use them, I would put them outside the parenthesis.
I’ve always had trouble with that; I do B.
D.
I usually use brackets as my smiles, or frowns, in the first place. (So I don’t really see a problem there. =])
