Whats the best way to remove Calcium buildup off shower walls?

I have real hard water. Water softeners didn’t work. I have even tried sandpaper. Don’t Say Muriatic Acid, Ive tried it and it just makes a mess. I have tried every product I can find. There’s got to be some Old fashioned home remedy for this.
