Im a complete iTunes n00b and I happened to add the same folder of songs about 5 times because I didn’t see iTunes do anything when I added them. Now there’s a bunch of copies of said songs and there has got to be an easer way of deleting them other than doing it one by one.
Anybody know how?

In the File menu, choose “Show Duplicates”. That should get you started.
1. File > Show duplicates helps a lot. @nope beat me to it!
Otherwise, there are some great third party applications – not sure if you use Windows or Mac.
Just Uncheck the box next to the song your Ipod and sync it again. If you want to delete it permanently Just delete it from your library. It will ask you if you want to remove it from Just the Library or do you want to put it in the recycle bin. After you’re finished resync the ipod again.
You can also use the shift and command key to make creative selections. Pick the songs you wand and hit delete.
you dont – you listen to them twice
Go to File and then select Show Duplicates. Then you’ll have to manually delete the songs, which may be a tedious process, but at least then you can check and make sure that you keep the better quality MP3 in your library.
@everyone
Or you can right click on a song and select delete to make everything easier
Well right clicking delete would work if there were only a couple of songs. What do you do if theres about a hundred or so. I just cleared my entire library and re-added all the songs.
When you download CD’s the computer asks you if you want to replace the duplicated songs soo click “replace”
