I live just north of Alamo Square Park in SF and just found out that Comcast does not service my building. What are my alternatives for Internet and Cable TV service? I don’t think that DSL (speed) or satellite (dish) are valid alternatives.

Have you tried Direct TV or Dish Network .. ?
I’ve had Direct Tv for several years and enjoy it…
hey; IF you decide on Direct TV ; let me know. I’ll give you my account # and we’ll BOTH get a $100 check in the mail.
that’s sucky, what about at&t? i’ve been seeing a lot of their commercials for tv out here recently.
AT-T is associated with Direct TV… Perhaps your buildning CAN get satellite ? Just CALL and ask the Direct TV folks…
AT&T UVerse is not available in my area. Astound is not available.
Looks like it’s going to be DSL. Still need to talk to the neighbors.
if your like me your tired of high prices I no longer pay for tv Ive swtiched to Hulu.com sling.com casttv.com and i run it off my computer onto my tv
there is some websites that broadcast live tv , but ive grown accustomed to watching it a day or two later it really doesn’t make much of a difference after a while if you have an older tv this is what i used to convert over from VGA to S-Video or component connection to the tv I had to upgrade the speakers to my computer because it was cheaper then wiring the sound output to the tv and some times im playing a game while she is watching tv so we dont always use it for tv so the sound was just easier that way any way here is the link to the VGA converter

there are other’s also but this is the one I have the experience with same thing sold at radio shack for 80.00 there is no power the the output to the tv so dont connect it till the computer is boot up or the picture will scramble
I just switched my internet service from Comcast to Webpass. I was paying Comcast $105 per month for 50/10 Mbps down/up. Now I’m paying $33.33 a month for 100 Mbps both ways. Their customer service is also much better. You can call up their phone number, press 1, and talk directly to the CEO. His name is Charles. Try that with Comcast.
Sadly, they don’t provide television service, but perhaps you can get by on Hulu, iTunes, and episodic DVDs.
