Oh Holy Night., it was my mother’s favorite Christmas carol. When I was growing up my grandmother had a player piano with hundreds of rolls of Christmas music. We would put on Oh Holy Night and belt it out like we were the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. To this day I think it is the most beautiful carol of them all.

Hark the Herald Angels Sing- It reminds me of being in church on Chrismas Eve night with all the lights and the smell of coffee and good food.

Silent Night- Reminds me of me and my mom decorating the Christmas tree, the smell of a woodstove, and baking christmas cookies. I wish I was little again :(

Jingle Bells, my daughter sang that from thanksgiving through new year from the time she was 2.

Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas is special to me because I sang it as a youngster in boys choir, and performed it solo a Capella at a Christmas eve party with my family and extended family during a year when my grandma and her cousins were all here from overseas for a reunion. Everyone in their generation was there except for my grandfather who had passed on five years earlier. For some reason it got my grandma going and she broke down during, and eventually the whole room was full of teary-eyed aunts and uncles. I never felt more moved by my performing than when I sang for them, even in spite of moving on to be a some-time professional singer later in my career.

Short story long that song has sentimental value to me because most of my family that were there have also passed on…it makes me remember how precious life and family are, and how fortunate we are to celebrate life and the feeling of love in this special season.

Little Drummer Boy, and Silver bells, every time I hear those songs, it always reminds me of my past, when I was a kid.

It’s in the singing of a street corner choir
It’s going home and getting warm by the fire
It’s true
Wherever you find love
It feels like Christmas
A cup of kindness that we share with another
A sweet reunion with a friend or a brother
In all the places you find love
It feels like Christmas
It is the season of the heart
A special time of caring
The ways of love made clear
It is the season of the sprit
The message if we hear it
Is make it last all year
It’s in the giving of a gift to another
A pair of mittens that were made by your mother
It’s all the ways that we show love…...

Delirium hums to herself.

Up On The House Top. We never remembered exactly what he put in the stocking for each child and made up our own words. We got to sing and tell what we wanted in our own stockings. It was funny then and a very happy memory now.

Silver Bells and White Cristmas. I’ve always tried to play Silver Bells and can’t and White Christmas brings a tear to my eye when all my family is close.

Oh Come Oh Come Emanuel. I sang it every year in childrens choir, and now the Christmas season never really starts until I hear it.
