Is it proper Fluther etiquette to individually thank everyone who answers your questions here?
I want to make sure everyone knows that I appreciate them taking the time to answer one of my questions. So I wonder if it’s common practice here to give a “thank you” to each person who answers?

I think you would go bonkers trying.
I’ve been trying, and even with my two meager questions, it’s been tricky.
It would be fine as long as you werent asking oodles of questions daily, you’d have no time for a life, or food, or anything! lol.
Seriously though….....
Once your question / query has been answered and tailed off you can pop a thank you message at the end of it – one for all rather than individual, but I’d say if you have the time and want to – why not thank everyone ? it’s your choice.
I would suggest handing out lurve for the answers you appreciate.
Anything really well thought-out or particularly useful could get a little: @cprevite: GA or @cprevite: Thanks for the link.
If a jelly has really gone above and beyond, PMs are always nice to receive.
And if a jelly’s answer has changed your life, well then…send cookies.
It would drive me insane if I got a comment for each response. Please don’t do this.
What @cprevite said is correct. Those are the most efficient ways to get your point across.
@cprevite : from the Stupid Question Department… what’s a PM?
It wigged me out a little to get thanked for answers that I thought were boring/ inane/ pointless. But I thought it was really nice. Normally we just thank someone for an answer that is unexpectedly great. This is sort of cool, though. It’s like learning the traditions of a foreign culture. :p
@HasntBeen: Sorry. Private Message.
When you click on a jelly’s avatar, it takes you to their page. Toward the bottom of the page, there’s a box where you can send them a Private Message.
I agree with @cprevite‘s answer as well, more or less. I have to admit, it’s been really nice getting several PMs a day from ABers, and it made me feel really nice inside. I would welcome you to keep doing it, but I could understand that it would probably become extremely tedious.
I agree with @Judi, You’d go nuts! We know you thank us because we love everyone to answer our questions, too.
Very helpful information everyone! So much to learn here and everyone seems very patient! Thank you all.
@cprevite re: “And if a jelly’s answer has changed your life, well then…send cookies”
You could also send them cake
I take it that its not a requirement here. I’ll continue to thank people as much as I can. Of course there will be days where I won’t even fell like thanking anyone. In that case, its nothing personal at all.
For the information of people not from AB: We had a“point culture” there. To get lots of points you gave lots of points and to make sure that an answerer knew that you gave her/him points we would frequently give any answer a “Thanks +6” as a reponse. We are probably much more promiscuous with point-giving than you are used to. I hope that this does not skew the system here as we learn the new culture.
@stranger_in_a_strange_land Mostly true, but there are some of us who largely adopted the “Whose Line…” attitude towards points. I never cared for popularity so long as I got respect.
@jerv You are one of the respected few who didn’t get caught up in the points-obsession, I’m personally ashamed that only about 10% of my answers were of any quality at all.
@stranger_in_a_strange_land Maybe if they had more questions about Penguins. I mean, you used to live with them for a while, right? That should’ve made you the expert there! :D
I am so glad you asked this question Barb. I was wondering the same thing too. I keep wanting to thank everyone.
Oh god, I think I would just about die. No, don’t worry about it. It’d annoy all the users and be a huge waste of time. Unless it’s something you REALLY want to acknowledge individually, don’t worry about it. It’s not expected behavior.
I usually wait a day or so until I have several answers, then I make a comment on my thread thanking everyone for their responses. Sometimes I’ll send a PM to thank someone personally, especially if their answer was very helpful.
@ABJustPlainBarb I’m glad you sent me a PM or I may not have found out that we live near each other! :)
@jonsblond It’s fun to see where everyone lives .. especially when we’re practically neighbors!!
