Is there anything you would like to share with all of the new Flutherites?

Most of the newbs that decided to stay and have been picked off by natural selection hehe are gone for the most part. (no offense) I was greedy at first and didn’t want anyone to share our relics fresh from the frizzer! Now that the time has come for caring and sharing, who wants to share some stalker cake and dead frizzer cats?
New flutherites, feel free to comment! We’re so glad to have you!

At what point is a newbie not a newbie?
Thanks Clair for the welcome!
the most famous discussion here was “the cake guy question”
I would like to be the first to offer a formal greeting to our guests.
Welcome to fluther!
Please, help yourself to some hors d’oeuvres in the lobby. Your hostess will be here to show you to your rooms shortly. If there is anything we can do to further accommodate you, don’t hesitate to ask. We value your contributions and want you to feel as much at home as possible. We hope you enjoy your stay!
@holden: Thanks for the warm welcome. Hate to show my ignorance right off the bat but…
…what’s a jelly?
@flameboi – Oooo, the cake guy thread… you should link it! Epic win!
I would tell them to check out the page that tells you how to make your text look cool (this one). At first I felt quite left out because I didn’t know how to do all that.
@Clair why were all those responses in the CIA one removed? That was lol’tastic.
Good grammar is everything.
@jmah janets! HAHAHHA OMG. <3<3<3
link Best question ever by my friend WTF. It’s a real marriage proposal on Fluther and we got to watch it unfold.
@SABOTEUR Jelly comes from Jellyfish. Dr. J (up top with the glasses) is our guy.
Well, I was going to mention my favorite all time question, janets frizzer. But since it’s already here, my second favorite is “How many Flutherers does it take to change a lightbulb?” and my third favorite, “Why would a candle refuse to light?”. Alas, I have not yet figured out how to post links with my iPhone. If someone would be so kind as to do that for me I would be most grateful!
Quality, in both Q&A is much more highly valued than in our former home. We should forget about quantity. We also have to learn to stay “on topic” in the threads. Our previous terminology needs conversion to Jelly-speak.
@saboteur
As time goes by you will increasingly become more aware of all the little touches relating to the main theme and all things oceany and seagoing.
There are different, sometimes rather esoteric, names for various groups of animals and other living things. A group of Larks is known as an Exhaltation. A group of crows is a murder. No kidding.
A group of jellyfish is a Fluther and individual members are referred to as jellies.
Clair,
Thank you for your question and for the welcome.
Hope that I can enjoy it. If only I could ask more questions? :>)
Regards
BTW. There is also a pretty decent but little known movie starring Cuba Gooding, Jr. called “A Murder of Crows”
I love plays upon words like that.
@saboteur,....yeah you’re a jelly.
The elaboration in the question mentions Darwin, stalking and, possibly, kittens.
This place isn’t normal.
I like it.
@stranger_in_a_strange_land . People here keep referring to “the thread.” I haven’t seen what I call a thread. When you respond to answers it just goes to the bottom so the whole thing seems kind of convoluted. Am I missing something here?
im a new flutherite – feel free to share :)
I’m really enjoying the moderation system here. Because of it, I’m assuming, most of the questions here are very thoughtful and intelligent. I haven’t seen one question about what’s going to happen in 2012 yet, and that makes me very, very happy. I think the collective IQ of fluther is much higher than AB’s when AB started going to hell. Thanks for having me, guys.
@Fiddle_Playing_Creole_Bastard You got that right. I haven’t seen a single lame, meaningless question yet. I WILL miss being a retard while answering, but making one’s brain work every now and then is a lot more rewarding in the end.
Well, I would like to recommend that all of the ABused victims stop looking back, move on, and assimilate.
- Forget the old AB points, and don’t try to use the Lurve system the same way
– Get used to asking fewer questions of higher quality
– Embrace the new paradigm
– Don’t complain about being modded. It happens to everyone and they are fair about it; they just use different standards than most of us are used to.
@thriftymaid – AB used to have threads under each separate answer. Fluther does things differently in that each question only has one “thread” that contains both comments and answers. Just because it’s not the type of thread you are used to, that doesn’t make it any less “thready”. Hence the use of whispers and @
@jerv – i agree totally, its time to stop the point scoring and communicate like adults
It’s addicting.
You may find yourself caring less about family trifles that don’t REALly concern you!
