I am afraid I will step on a snake. I never go out at night without a flashlight.
I fear what I cannot see.
Serious answer: the darkness that I feared was to die alone. That is not going to happen.
More literal answer: running around barefoot and stepping on something that squooshes, crunches, or bites.
Been there, done that, have the PTBBS to prove it (post traumatic baby bullfrog syndrome).
PTBBS is the result of going into an exes’ basement to get something out of the dryer, stepping down to hear/feel a nauseating “crunch.” Flipped the light on, lifted my foot to see, stuck to my foot… a crushed baby bullfrog, held to my foot by its entrails.
My ex and her mother found my girlish scream amusing.
I edited: It was not a bullDOG, it was a bullFROG.
Those things I simply can see but can feel and dont know what it is!!
When I was little, if I had to use the bathroom at night, I was afraid to go back to bed until it was light out. I would stay up, in the bathroom, reading till then. I’m not really sure what scared me so much; monsters, I guess!
Now I’m mostly fine w/it… sometimes at night when I’m outside w/dogs I get the willies a bit, but not often. I like to think they would protect me from beasties, rather than try to hide behind me.
The dark. I hate darkness and have since I was a child. I have a house full of nightlights.
The boogey man…oh and cockroaches, I hate the sound they make when they scurry across the floor.
I fear what I can’t see. I hate the dark, I always have. If something’s going to get me, I want to know/see what it is….....(I think) :-0
click *it was me * lol @jade
