Do you look at how many responses there are to a question before answering it?

Before I go about answering a question i look at the amount of responses it has generally if it has over 10 I decide against it, maybe because I think my answer would lost in the crowd or maybe because I don’t want to be bothered with the ‘activity’. Does anyone else check that before answering? Does it deter you or entice you to answer the question or does it have no bearing at all?

I believe that if its worth answering it shouldn’t matter how many people have already answered it. If you have advice/news/links/etc it should be worth sharing.
Well, the more responses there already are, the less I am inclined to add my mustard.
Yes, absolutely.
I will very rarely answer a question that already has more than a few responses. Usually it’s for the reasons you mention. I try very hard to have my responses actually answer the question that is asked, rather than simply put in my two cents (that’s also why I rarely answer questions at all), and if I feel like that effort will be wasted at the bottom of 50 responses, I generally just skip it.
Yes, I read them over. I only answer a question if I think I’ll have a worth-while answer. If one person has already given the answer I would give, I usually give my answer as a confirmation or back-up. If several have given the same answer, I won’t. If 25 (or more) people have answered and my answer will be different, I will post it anyway if I feel they might want to consider a different perspective or if I can add something out of personal experience.
It depends what the topic is. I love cookies with chocolate btw
No I just answer the question first, and then look at the other responses after.
No, I usually answer the first thing that pops into my head. I read them after.

Sometimes, if the question has been beaten to death I probably wouldn’t answer it.

Usually, but I can’t say I read everything if it has plenty of them. I mostly do, it’s keeping up with the new responses in my activity that I’m bad at.
If it’s an old question, I’ll look at the number of responses (ie. over a few days old). If there are more than 20, I’ll usually skip it unless it’s really interesting. If it’s within the last 36 hours, I’ll answer regardless of the number of responses.
yes, If I have the same answer as sombody else I don’t see much reason to add, unless to show support for their answer.Also I like to answer current threads because they are more likely to be still going…for a discussion. If heaps of people have already answered I would be srprised if the author is still following. Unless it is an extreemly interesting subject.
Yes, I do. I think if there’s a lot of answers, I’d just get lost in the shuffle & no one would care what I had to say.
@janbb LOLLLLLLLL…nothing….......
@jmah aww, that’s sweet to say. Thank you. :-}
I wish I didn’t judge questions on the amount of responses, but now that you mention it, I believe I do. I’m more apt to not put my two cents in if there are a lot of responses.
I usually check out how many answers there are for a question .
If over 20 -25 ; I probably won’t add my two cents….
I do look, but it usually doesn’t deter me either way. Now, if there are 80 answers and it’s been a few days, I may figure there’s nothing I can say that would make a difference and skip it.
I don’t pay any attention to the number of answers. If it looks interesting, I will answer.
When I am interested enough to answer a question, I am also interested in seeing what other people think, so, for me, the more the merrier.

Nooooo…I respond to whatever question I feel I have a good answer for regardless of the previous answers.
I might look over previous answers after I post, but hardly ever before.
(Don’t want anyone else’s hot air to influence mine.)
