Would you patronize a restaurant offering alternative dishes ?
Would you be willing to eat dishes prepared with dog,cat or rat meat as offered at restaurants in third world countries.

nope.
My dog is my best friend not my next meal.
The three you mentioned wouldn’t get me to come. But if they included other alternatives such as Bison, Kangaroo or other unique fare, I’d probably give it a try.
But, they would also have to have a really excellent chef, which is my first criteria for spending money at ANY restaurant, alternative or not.
@Lightlyseared Well !!! You should at least try the beer batter-dipped,country- fried rat on a stick, great meal for people on the go !
The three that were mentioned, I couldn’t do it.
No. I like odd things but rodentia andman’s best friend do not qualify for my palete.
I barely ever eat beef or pork. I do eat a lot of chicken. I would eat in the place if they other things. But I simply wouldn’t get any of the items you mentioned.
i had goat in Barbados and it was KILLER!! but that’s where i draw the line.well maybe manatee steaks.i wonder if the Miccosukee have any recipes..
Most definitely. If its ok to eat in the country, I’m there.
GA, @jackm. I wouldn’t want to miss out on part of a country’s culture just because we don’t eat it over here. I think travel shows a lot of the time just try to freak people out about the gross foods they eat in other countries, instead of showing us how it’s normal to those people. So the first foods we think of people eating overseas is dog, cat, or rat, when for the most part they eat a lot of the same meats we do, just prepared with local veggies and spices and things. (I think that goat is the most commonly eaten meat in the world. Goat wouldn’t freak most people out, but it probably isn’t as interesting for ratings.) Most meals just kind of boil down to meat, starch, and vegetables, no matter where you are.
I have somewhat of a problem in only eating the non-cute animals. If you eat meat than what’s the difference, the rats seem a little disgusting but pig wallow in feces so I dunno.
I’m a vegetarian so it wouldn’t make a difference to me.
@limeaide Pretty much all of the critters we eat wallowed in feces. That’s why it’s so cheap. Mmmm… factory farming.
If I was in a Third World Country that offered those things, I might try it for cultural reasons. I would not have any intention to continue eating those things. Plus, I’m vegetarian. So in retrospect, I wouldn’t try it. But hypothetically, yes.
I’m a vegetarian so no, I wouldn’t eat any of those dishes but I am always willing to try new things that weren’t alive at any point before they were prepared for the meal so I might try the restaurant.
no way I love my pets I wouldn’t want them on the dinner plate
I wouldn’t go there for it, but if that’s what there is… sure. A guy’s gotta eat.
Eating a cat or dog is better than eating another person. lol
And I suspect I’d even do that if it became necessary.
I once knew a korean who ate dog… always trying to smell my ass that bastard!
