Have you heard about Facebook's new google indexing?
A friend of mine posted something today about Facebook allowing google indexing. A lot of people are upset about this. Have you been informed of this? Can anyone explain exactly what this means? I assumed it meant that when I do a google search, my facebook friends can see it…Am I completely off?

Yup. It means that anything you allow the public to see about your profile, can be searched via Google by anyone with a mind to find you. (If you make your wall or profile private, Facebook says they will not allow that information to be indexed.)
However, you can opt-out if you want. Go to Settings—> Privacy Settings—> Search and uncheck the ticky box that says “Allow Indexing.” :)
It’s easy to undo, if (like me) you want to remain stalker-proofed.
Just click “Settings”—> privacy settings—>search—> then untick the box for “indexing”.
You know anything you post on 99% of websites shows up in Google right? SHOCK lol
Doesn’t matter if Facebook shows it, it won’t make any different if your on private!
If you go to the settings page, Facebook explains themselves.
All that the indexing does is allow someone to find your facebook page by searching your name in Google.. but they can’t see anything that you set as private. The only information viewable through Google is the information that you have set so that everyone can see.
If you don’t know, as of today, Facebook will automatically start plunging the Earth into the Sun. To change this option, go to Settings—> Planetary Settings—> Trajectory then UN-CLICK the box that says ‘Apocalypse.’
But be sure to weigh your options first. There’s also an option titled “Apocalypse for..”, where you can choose who on your friends list will be directly plunged into the sun.
