What's the longest you have felt the buzz of new love?

Asked by colliedog (922points) December 14th, 2009

I’m talking about that thrill, energy, elation and joy that you have when you first meet someone – what’s the longest that has ever lasted for you?

A day? A month? A year?

Over four years with Hubbs. It really does still feel that giddy.

@gemiwing Wow. Really? It’s just like day one every day? That’s amazing. You should be in the Guinness Book of Records.

@colliedog It’s like day one everyday, plus the addition of security and the calmness that comes from being with him. I get excited when he wakes up because it means more time together. I still get chills when he looks at me a certain way. It’s almost scary.

A few months for the initial buzz, and then it comes and goes in waves.

@colliedog GQ! I have to think about it, as it’s been a while. Hmmm – maybe a few weeks?

All the way up until we became long-distance. So, almost two years (I think. I’m bad with time)

colliedog's avatar

@Facade So it’s “out of sight, out of mind” with you.

Facade's avatar

@colliedog No, not at all.

Twenty-three years.

colliedog's avatar

@Zen_Again That makes me sad for you. Are you sure about that?

colliedog's avatar

@AstroChuck Just like day one or are you exaggerating?

about 2years now and still going strong!! i thinks its the distance that makes us even more crazy for each other and we certainly cant wait till after next week when we get to see each other..its been months!!

2 years today actually! Today (Dec. 15th) is our 2 year anniversary. Though at first it wasn’t really love, it was a slight crush mixed with lust, but it soon turned to be more.

For me the buzz of new love is good, but I like it best when it’s been replaced by a more realistic, but deeper love. I generally don’t like the feeling of being intoxicated by love, and am glad when the buzz wears off. It lasts for me for some montths.

about 3 years and he still makes every day like the first day i met him

Although there have been lulls in the passion at times, my hubby still curls my toes. We’ve been together over 20 years, married 19 years last August.

So far about 8 years. Things seem to get better, more intense, more meaningful, more expressive.

4–6 hours..Duracell needs to make better batteries.

@colliedog- No. Not just like day one. It’s different but in many ways better. But I still feel the buzz.

A few months, but then again I’m pretty young. It’s great that so many of you still feel that in relationships that have lasted years and years. I often feel skeptical that long term monogamy actually works, but this is a pretty convincing argument. :)

4 or 5 months, long enough for me to foolishly get married. That was the biggest infatuation-based mistake of my life.

I felt the “buzz” of a new love in 1965. yes, thats probably before you were even thought of. this must have been the buzz of a lifetime for two people. we married after six months of dating and are still married to each other, after 44 years. i think we must have invented “buzz”.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

I wanted to kick his a$$ after the first 10 minutes ;)

I agree with @hug_of_war. The buzz of new love is great, but I enjoy the feeling that I get having been in love with my husband for 18 years. Knowing that he still loves me after all the hard times that we have been through and the comfort of being with someone that knows me so well is a much better feeling imo. I grow more attracted to him as time goes by.
