Who sings this version of hello muddah hello faddah?

Asked by Zathura12 (68points) December 15th, 2009

I am not talking about the original version. It must be a cover of the song. All I can remember is the singer had a gruff voice. I think he also did voices for cartoons.

Again, I don’t want the original version.

Could it be Louis Armstrong? He has a gravelly voice…

Ok here’s some new info. I could have sworn there is a version of the song that sounded like Wayne’s imporession of Jimmy Durante.

You can hear it at the 1:24 mark.

I seem to remember Louis Armstrong singing this one at one point or another, but I know that Dave Saville’s Alvin & The Chipmunks also did a version of this song.

Yeah, but I don’t recall the Chipmunks singing in a “gruff” voice :D

True. The Chipmunks reference was just a trivial offering. I understand that Spike Jones & The City Slickers did the song originally in the 30’s-40’s and that version included vocals by none other than Mel Blanc, the man of a thousand voices. It might possibly have been that version that Zathura12 is looking for.
