Why is aspen mountain called ajax by the locals?

Apparantly, at the base of the mountain is Ajax Tavern. But that could have been named after the mountain.
You should go there and find out. It would be a nice vacation?
Ajax was the former name. Locals still use it.
I was going to say, “Because it reminds them of washing powder or bathroom cleanser!” But, of course, I’d be wrong.
Ajax is stronger than dirt!
