Tamales! Cheesecake! Hot Cocoa! Rice and BEANS!

Sophief's avatar

@YCLYHO I don’t normally do anything, I haven’t even thought about the main event, apart from that we are having Pork.

@chou199015 Sounds good, but what are Tamales?

chou199015's avatar

Oh, it’s a traditional plate from mexico, so it’s basically corn flour really soft spread on corn leafs or banana leafs, then there is a filling of chicken, or pork I really like the chicken and cheese with jalapenos…or beans. They are ready in about an hour… :)

Sounds good, enjoy.

cold pizza!

Thank you! So are you going to do pork? Theres a good recipe that is Pork Loin basically cooked in apple juice…(don’t worry it doesn’t taste all that much like apple juice) but well it makes it tender and jucy, then with that same apple juice you make a gravy and then just add mashpotatoes and green beans or whatever you like as a side dish… :)

@delta214 Cold Pizza? Urgh that sound horrible, at least warm it up.

Sophief's avatar

@chou199015 Yes I’m doing pork loin, but without the apple, i’m using fennel and white wine.

We always have prime rib, which I can’t stand. I would really enjoy some turkey, but my family refuses to break tradition.

The Seven Fishes
1) shrimp cocktail
2) scallops wrapped in bacon
3) maple glazed salmon
4) stuffed shrimp

We don’t do anything Christmas day (food-wise).

This year, we’re going out to eat on Christmas Eve with several other family members. Usually my mother in law has everyone over for a big seafood dinner. Her in-laws were Catholic and didn’t eat meat on Christmas Eve, but she kept the tradition just because everyone loved it so much. One great aunt is well into her 90’s, and we all decided a local meal out would be better than having her drive almost an hour for a homemade meal.

After the meal, we are all going back to an aunt and uncle’s house for coffee, dessert, and a gift exchange. I’m looking forward to it, because we don’t often see this particular branch of the family and they are a lot of fun!

We typically have tortierre (sp?) a Canadian meat pie that my mother makes every Christmas Eve.

I’ll be at an Irish pub at supper time with some British friends for a while, so I’m going to go on a limb and say either shepherd’s pie or bangers and mash.
