Our family has this tradition where before a celebration (birthday dinner, Christmas dinner), we would all hold hands and sing this silly Irish song (called “Jiggy-jig”). Something that my Dad loved to do, and my 6 year old niece and nephews loved, as well (though, when the nephews got to be teenagers, they cringed for a bit when we sang it :)) Anyhow, it’s just something silly that we did as a family.
My Mom passed away a little over three years old. So, Jmah, is short for “Jiggy-jig, Mah”. Now, when I sing the “jiggy-jig” song, I look up to her.

It’s common for people in the military to be called only by their last name, and not uncommon for that to be abbreviated much like William becomes Bill.
Yukiko was the name I took when I attended my Japanese immersion summer camp during high school. All the campers took Japanese names to add to the immersion experience. Yukiko means “snow child,” which I picked not because I like snow or anything, but because I’m about as white as it.

I was Siren on ubersite.com before it became full of degenerates and most of my screen names for various sites have been some form of that. I tried for “Siren” first and it was taken, then I tried “ubersiren.” It was available, but I soon learned that there was an uberbatman with whom I would often be confused.

OK. In all honesty, I didn’t give two seconds thought to my screen name, because I originally came back here just to give condolences to a former wis.dmr, and didn’t expect to stay. My really real screen name is “Dutchess,” it has a long story behind it. It evolved out of my original “Dutch Cat” (Because I’m of Dutch origin and I like cats.) Then there was a massive battle on Wisdm between the nation of Yuchenation and the Power Rangers, and one of my favorite friends there knighted me “Dutchess” me during that battle. About a year later I got spell check, and realized, for the first time, it wasn’t even spelled right! Doy! Which led to a question of mine, “Has it ever taken you a year to get a joke?” Doy!
