When lifting weights, do you lift to failure?

The past few weeks I have been lifting harder then normal. For example, last night when I got back home, I had worked my biceps so hard that I couldn’t even lift my laptop with one hand. Is this good or bad? I don’t lift while they are sore.

What I was taught is that lifting that much a couple times a month isn’t bad, but doing so every time will definitely injure you.
But it’d probably be best to ask a trainer.
Lifting to failure maximizes growth. Unfortunately it’s also the best way to get a serious injury that could slow your progress over the long term. The toroise and the hare applies here.
No, increase the weight slowly. That way you won’t get hurt.
A couple times a month I lift to failure in order to gain muscle mass. However, typically I don’t because I don’t want to get injured and I don’t want to look like a female Arnold Schwarzenegger. And I don’t want to hurt every time I reach out for a piece of paper.
if i was a jogger, i would not jog until i couldn’t go any further, and had to lie down in a heap on the ground, wherever i was, because i didn’t have the strength to do any more…
if i was a swimmer i certainly wouldn’t keep going until…well you get the idea….
