Does the food you cook have a name?

Asked by YARNLADY (46587points) December 17th, 2009

Sometimes people say “That tastes good, what is it called?” But I don’t have names for my food.

I usually call mine, just plain “PIZZA” , “Hot Dogs”, or “Sandwich” ... no special names for my meals / food…

I got this sort of not exactly Shepard’s Pie deal I call Dinner-In-A-Dish and this spicy meaty sauce concoction recipe called Dynamite that my gramma gave me.

YARNLADY's avatar

@Anon_Jihad Sounds delishous, care to share the recipe?

Anon_Jihad's avatar

The Dynamite recipe I’ll have to dig up, the Dinner-In-A-Dish while also passed down to me, is not an original recipe of my gramma’s, and that can be found here: http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Dinner-in-a-Dish

I would like to congratulate @MarthaStewart for having a humorous first answer that does not violate the guidelines. I got a laugh out of it.

I make cookies named Blopplebutts.

Mostly an inside joke, that no one can remember the origin of. But they’re like snickerdoodles. Only more awesomer.

Oh yes.

Aubergine becomes Spanish vegetables, good old omelets become Mexican pancakes.

As long as it is named something exotic the kids eat it.

Ma has recently become more inventive with her cooking, due no doubt to time constraints. One dish is essentially nachos ‘n cheese, with beans and sour cream and more cheese. Very tasty, easy to make, little prep time and few ingredients required. Terribly unhealthy, I suspect, but all the other stuff pretty much outweighs that as a concern.
