How do you make a link?

Asked by Sonnerr (588points) December 18th, 2009

I’m curious on to how I make a link that says what I want it to say instead of making a long link that has the site and everything. I see that people know how to do it, but I can’t seem to figure it out. Is there a way? or does everyone’s link just happen to be like that?

Please help. thanks!!

Look directly below the text box where you answer questions.

No spaces.

“your text goes here” :URL

minus the space. It’s under the type box along with other helpful tips. I’m on a iPhone right mow though so I can’t double check and hope I’m not making an ass of myself.

Take a look below the box in which you type on all these pages. You’ll see a few examples of the markup language used on Fluther (including making links), as well as a link to the entire list of markup options.

Now if only we had underline as well…

erichw1504's avatar

@jerv I was just thinking about that! Where’s our underline markup?!

erichw1504's avatar

foo™ foo® foo©

There no mention of this markup though!

Monospace? Cool!

What I’d like is the ability to escape the markup. Sometimes I want my text to be surrounded with asterisks rather than bolded….

There is no escape. That’s the price we pay for being part of the Collective.
