How much alcohol do you drink?
Do you drink daily? a few time a week? a few times a month? never?
What do you drink? How much do you drink?
Don’t get me wrong but I can go months without drinking, but when I’m in a drinking mood I can drink daily for weeks on end, I can drink a few bottle of wine a night, or maybe 7–8 pints of beer/cider or more a night.
It all depends :)

Bottle of wine a night. I may be considered a borderline alcoholic, but I may get a slight buzz, but rarely drunk.
Lets see…
I have a 12 pack in my fridge I purchased 2 months ago. I think there are 7 bottles left.
@pjanaway that is an awful lot, even if you don’t drink for months.
A few times a month. I’m in college. I party every weekend. :)
I’ll summarize.
I’m in college.
Only on very rare occasions.
P.S. I’m in college too…
None, it affects my glucose levels. I have hypoglycemia, but if I didn’t, I’d be drunk right now!
Though I can’t say I’ve never had a drink, It is something I have never had a use for.I haven’t had a drink of alcohol in several years.
It varies greatly these days. I have been partying more this year than I have in decades; which means once or twice a month. There have been stretches of years when I went without a drink.
After more than 30 years of drinking, and after having been married to an alcoholic, I know my limits.
None
@Freedom_Issues
I’d say you may have crossed the border but only you can decide that. And if you drink a bottle of wine a night and only get a slight buzz that would indicate you’ve built up a tolerance
About a dozen beers a year and a couple of shots of Bailey’s in coffee here and there.
I am a light weight.
I usually drink a glass of wine each night when I come home from work.
@Freedom_Issues – I’m from England, but I can’t say for the whole country, but I know my area I know people drink alot, and I know from TV that people in other parts of the country drink alot.
I first started drinking with friends when I was 11 ;) Went to clubs from the age of 13, I know nowadays its harder to get in clubs, I get Id’d and I’m 23.. haha
Several glasses of wine a year. I don’t think I have drunk the equivalent of one beer during my entire adult life.
In my entire life (20 years for those not keeping track) , I’ve had about a beer can and a half’s worth of alcohol.
I know this is generally uncool but I don’t drink. Life is fun enough without it (for me).
About twice a month I’ll have a drink or two. I usually don’t get actually drunk more than once every other month. It’s incredibly easy for me to get drunk so it does happen occasionally (even those 2 drinks will do it if I skipped dinner), but I try to avoid it because I feel like an idiot when I do. :)
I rarely drink when I’m home alone, unless it’s a single beer with dinner. Out with friends twice a month, 1–3 drinks, usually martinis at 2-for-1 happy hour. I have one friend who loves wine, and when I go over there, I usually have a chardonnay.
I have not drunk to excess since my very early 20’s.
I do like trying beers, and think the tasting flights are a great invention.
@chyna: After how many decades, do I decide that I have tried hard enough?
A few glasses of wine a week usually. Occasionally, a beer or cocktail.
I bleed Natty Light Thursday – Sunday morning.
Oh college.
I want to drink more than I do but the meds I’m on say no
I’m impressed that so many of you don’t drink at all. Good on ya’.
I’m not a heavy drinker. I do average a glass of wine at night & when we go out, I’ll drink maybe two. Very rarely do I even get a buzz going.
Beer? Never. I can’t even stand the smell of it, let alone drinking the stuff.
sometimes one or two…other times more than enough for everyone.
@chyna I knew there was something about you I liked, Beer and dogs… haven’t had any in a few weeks though (Saving money)
Not much, these days.
Maybe a beer or two around the holidays…maybe some eggnog.
I dropped my drinking habit when my oldest daughter was born 18 years ago. Since my wife and I both work, it was often necessary to care for the baby (or babies as my family grew). I didn’t want to incur the wrath of my wife upon coming home, finding her babies in need or in distress, and me incapacitated from drinking too much.
Haha, dude what goes on tour, stays on tour!
@Stagood Yes, nothing better than beer and dogs.
When I am able to drink, I go for wine. Probably a glass or two nightly. I’m not too fond of hard liquors. I’ll only drink those if getting drunk is my goal lol. I never drink beer.
We buy about two bottles of wine a month.
@Sarcasm – Is that one and a half beers, or one and a half beer cans of alcohol?
I have been known to enjoy a drink or two in my time.
Damn, where are all you guys from?
I drink two or three times a week, between 1–4 beers at a time (or the equivalent in wine or shorts). Its been a couple of years since I drank enough to actually get drunk.
I rarely ever drink . I use wine for cooking it adds flavor. I could drink the wine I cook with but it truly enhances the flavor of my food .
I haven’t had a drink of any alcohol since May 2, 1999.
I brew my own beer. So I drink a lot of that.
I had my last drink July 31 2009, 6:59 pm.
Homegrew Lurve @bolwerk GA
We have wine with most meals. Fine beer too. Or when going out.
@rooeytoo: I gather, because of the specificity, it was an important one. Congratulations.
I’m a very moderate drinker.
I come from a long line of violent alcoholics, and I refuse to be like any of them, but I also refuse to be afraid of alcohol, and deny myself an entire branch of delicious recipes because my family are idiots.
When I do drink, I’m in my own home. I drink only until I start to feel the effects – I don’t like to be drunk (it happened once, accidentally). I drink because sometimes a cocktail tastes good, not to have an effect of drunkenness.
That takes (choose one):
1 bottle of Guinness Extra Stout, Newcastle Brown Ale, or Killian’s Irish Red
1 small dry martini
6 oz. wine
three Irish Coffees (1 c. coffee, 1 oz Bailey’s, whipped cream)
⅔ bottle of any Unibroue product (I particularly like Don DeDieu and La Fin Du Monde)
@EdMayhew I’ve had a can of beer (Coors light I think), and then sips here and there of many different types of drinks.
@Sarcasm
Haha, sorry just being facetious. Oh, the money i could’ve saved if I’d been so restrained!
Coors? No wonder you stopped at just one.
There’s literally a world of different varieties out there. Believe it or not there are beers that actually taste good.
Don’t give up on beer yet. : )
@bolwerk
I’m so interested in getting into homebrewing. I want to do it old-school style, though. Like, boiling heather ale over a fire in my backyard. Unfortunately, there isn’t much information on that kind of home brewing anymore. I so need a time machine to 1356.
@gailcalled – yep, I’m a better person for it!
I see @hawaii_jake has his date down too, we might belong to the same club!
I drink all of it every time.
@ratboy – that is about the cutest rat I have ever seen!
I am still working on the answer to this question so far it seems not enough but the bottle may be gone my 11 pm
@Seek_Kolinahr I assume you have Charlie Papazian’s “Joy of Homebrewing”. For techniques on early brewing methods, going back to ancient Egypt. Randy Mosher’s “The Brewer’s Companion” has most of the tech data and recipes (ISBN 0–9640410-0–6).
In answer to the basic question: I’m a total lush. Whatever alcohol fails to accomplish, Valium finishes the job.
I don’t drink anything anymore. I got really, really sick once and that was it for me.
It’s been mentioned twice in this question now. What’s a lush? I assume you don’t mean something wild with growth, like a lush rainforest.
I had my third margarita of the year, tonight. I’ve always been a lightweight. Three beers and I’m puking.
@Sarcasm
A lush is essentially someone who drinks a lot, though the implication is one leds a generally exuberant lifestyle.
@EdMayhew In my case the alcohol is used for its sedative value, rather than exuberance.
Cool stuff, me too most of the time. I’d be tempted not to use the word lush though, it has overtones… Maybe something like ‘pickled’ would be a more suitable description for people like us!
@EdMayhew To be perfectly blunt, just plain “drunk” probably describes me best.
One or two 7 counts of vodka on the rocks, usually four (or five) nights a week.
But I’ll tell you something: I would only drink it in the late evening. Oh, occasionally the early evening, but usually the late evening – or the mid-evening. Just the early evening, midevening and late evening. Occasionally, early afternoon, early mid-afternoon, or perhaps the late-midafternoon. Oh, sometimes the early-mid-late-early morning. . . But never at dusk! Never at dusk, I would never do that.
Pretty much every night. Too much. I have problems. help
It says cannot find server. If that was intentional, that’s the funniest thing ever! I approve.
Hell, I’m 14! I’ll be screwed if I drink!

Oops! wrong question!
@daloon – heheheh, you are in good form tonight!
@rooeytoo I’m just tired as shit, but I’m playing with my new computer which is AMAZING!!!
@daloon – I love new tech toys, what did you get?
@SeventhSense Thanks. Much appreciated. For both the link and not laughing at me. XD
I usually only drink when I go out to the bars with my girl friends (about twice a month). And I’d estimate that while in the bars I consume around 8 drinks (including shots).
@stratman37 I can’t decide if that story was happy or sad, but it was amazing.
TOLD ya it was worth the read!
@stratman37 Andre was a truly inspirational character. He also looked after many wrestlers who got into financial troubles.
Andre was definitely a badass!!
A great showman, knew how to have a good time and he took care of his people. He also knew when it was time to hang it up.
Usually, just as much as it takes!
@stranger_in_a_strange_land
I’ve heard stories of Andre drinking two bottles of Jack, and then being the “designated driver”.
One friend of his told a story on a documentary in which they were all blind drunk (Andre, a couple of friends, his brother…) driving around town. A cop pulled them over, and Andre got out of the car, and turned the car over, with one hand. The cops just turned around and left.
