With the glut of reality shows now available on television, do you find yourself addicted to certain ones or do you avoid them altogether. If you do watch them, which ones in particular do you enjoy?

I don’t really regularly watch any anymore. I watched a few seasons of Survivor and I liked it. I’ve also seen a few episodes of Teen Cribs and I loved it. I’ve also seen a couple episodes of American Idol; I found it funny but that was only because it was the beginning part where everyone sucked.
I watch “Man Vs. Food” and “Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations”. Do those count?
I am currently was watching Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
And I thoroughly enjoy reality shows =)
Anything on VH1.
Especially Rock of Love. What a bunch of trainwrecks.
I can smell the skankiness from my television set.
I also enjoy Kathy Griffin and Intervention.
My guilty pleasure is Project Runway. Beyond the gossip and drama, sometimes the designers create amazing clothes out of car parts or corn husks or candy wrappers.
I like Project Runway, I saw every episode of The Hills, and my guiltiest pleasure is Real Housewives.
@DominicX Never heard of Teen Cribs, but I have watched a few of the Survivor episodes.
@Seek_Kolinahr Never heard of those two either. I must not be watching enough television.
@Facade I enjoy Keeping Up with the Kardashains too.
@Vunessuh Caught a few moments of that show and you are correct.
@MagsRags @pdworkin Never watched those programs.
I love reality shows I’ve probably seen a couple scenes over every reality tv show ever to grace cable though I am especially fond of the vh1 reality shows, the more outlandish the “reality” the better
I do enjoy some of them. I really like Table for 12, Keeping up with the Kardashians, and Simmons Family Jewels. Oh and even Real Housewives of Orange County… OK, I like a lot of them.
@pdworkin Crap. I totally forgot about Real Housewives! I love Real Housewives of NY. Bethenny and Jill crack me up.
And Project Runway is indeed the shit.
@pearls
Travel Channel. Yep. ^_^ That’s where the good stuff hides.
I like the ones where there is at least a whiff of reality. That eliminates anything with a housewife who thinks she is a member of the social elite or an unemployed relative of a D-list celebrity (Khardashian or Lamas). Anybody living in the wilderness or in isolation in a house with nothing to do but talk about sex is not experiencing reality. Also gluttony is out.
That pretty much leaves Top Chef, Project Runway, Chopped and Meet the Natives. That seems like a lot but since they are rerun so often they don’t require scheduling one’s life around the TV. <;P
I watch quite a few, now that I’m a stay at home mom. Among my favorites are:
Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew
Tool Academy
Top Chef
Project Runway
Tabatha’s Salon Takeover
Food Network Challenge (and the other challenge shows on Food Network)
Cake Boss, Ace of Cakes, etc
@pdworkin, I wish I had the power to order it. The promos for those shows are all over – ugh. I know the trainwreck aspect is fascinating, but it all feeds into the Paris Hilton school of celebrity.
OOH I forgot the business makeover shows, Gordon and his restaurants. Tabitha and her salons, Ruth and her hotels and Mary and her boutiques. I don’t know when they are on regularly but the send you back to sleep with a feeling of superiority.
@stemnyjones I love Tabatha! Nothing more fun to watch than someone who’s smart and talented and doesn’t take shit from people who are neither.
@MagsRags But just think: without Real Housewives we would never have had the White House gate-crashers!
I caught a clip of Jersey Shore (I think it’s called) on The Soup and I can’t believe those people are given driver’s licenses.
@pdworkin I bet the Secret Service hates the Real Housewives too.
@MagsRags That’s why we enjoy watching them. Because it’s all a trainwreck. :D
Oh my, I can’t believe I forgot about my new favorites! Intervention, Hoarders and I’m Pregnant And…
One episode of Hoarders sent me straight to cleaning out my closets. Helloooo Goodwill.
@galileogirl I was so disappointed by the season premier this time. The one with the old woman with the dead cats in her house that she wasn’t aware of. I live in the same state as her. It made me so sad for humanity.
Hoarding is an illness. It’s on the OCD spectrum. There is nothing amusing about it – it simply requires treatment.
No. I think they are highly overrated.
I have always been a fan of Project Runway – no guilt.
I love the dance shows even if they perpetuate heternormativity and gendered expressions – ballroom is all about that.
and I watch wedding dress related shows because sometimes I like the dress but most of the time I do it to make fun of the people involved.
There are so many reality shows listed here that I have never heard of before. Guess I’m out of the loop.
Oh yes: Millionaire Match Maker, Tool Academy, Say Yes to the Dress, Ax Men, Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, Sober House, Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List,.
Aren’t Intervention and Hoarders documentary shows?
@Seek_Kolinahr I would say “Man Vs. Food” is a reality. “Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations” is more of a documentary.
Bethenny got nekkid on the roof and yelled at the Countless! Oh, my!
I sometimes watch Man vs Food
