Are you a list-maker?
Do you make lists to keep yourself organized? Some people make shopping lists, to-do lists, etc. Just wondering how many people make lists and if they really follow them.

I do not, but I think I should.
I make lists alla time, but i never actually follow them. I suck.
No I am not, but my g/f is and she tries to make me be one as well.
Yes,<i<am !! and sometimes i dont follow my own list..
I definitely make lists…sometimes, making a list is the only way of knowing everything that needs doing.
However, I am not the best at following said lists.
I do everyday. I have a Frankin Planner and I list everything that has to be done & places that I need to be each day. Still old fashioned where I use a real paper planner. If I can’t physically write it down, I’ll forget. I tried with a palm pilot years ago, didn’t work.
I at times, make a seperate list on paper or post it’s for important items. If I write it down, I tend to get it done when it should be, or get where I need to be.
I do a grocery list but those items are the ‘non normal’ items needed in the house. Like if I need TP or sugar. There are items that I purchase every week, so I dont’ bother to write those down.
I am the President of the High School PTA and a member of our Parish Council. Those meetings have specific days when meetings are held. BUT with a son on the high school wrestling team, there are so many other things that need to be noted and listed to be sure I get him where he needs to be, or to attend matches.
My lists are more to remind me and keep important things in the forefront of my thoughts. It’s such a good reminder to keep my life in order.
@Skippy Wow. You are really organized! Sounds like you have a plan that really works for you.
@JustPlainBarb to an extent I am. I am an Exec Office Mgr, so I have to keep several folks on track daily. With Real Estate in the shitter now, it’s easier, but when you have brokers running from closing to closing, and doc’s that need to be noterized, filed in the courthouse etc, I have to keep on top of it all.
Before my oldest left for college, I had 2 boys in sports, and with the community activities that we all are involved in, without a plan, I’d be toast!
1. I always make a list
2. Then I check things off the list
3.. Sometimes I find old lists and check to see if I followed them
4. They’re so fun
No, i’m more of a list completer. The last list I ran was something like this: lips, neck, nipples, lips, neck, ears, neck, lips, neck, nipples, belly, thighs, toes .. yes toes…, inner thighs,,, inner thighs, clitoris, clitoris, clitoris, clitty, clitty, bang bang. The participant expressed great appreciation.
I am a list maker…have been since I became a mother 28 years ago. I try to follow my to-do lists, always follow my grocery lists, and absolutely HAVE to write down every upcoming event…my memory….she aint what she used to be!
I’m going to see what a Frankin Planner is now….I may need one of those. :)
@AnnieB – a fancy calendar! (any calendar with a month spread, AND either daily pages, or weekly spread works) I have mine for the past 2 years, and at the end of this one, I’ll toss the one from 07. Strange but once in awhile you do need to go back and see if/when something happend.
At times it is cumbersome, but it’s become part of who I am.
@Skippy Thank you for the explanation….I did look it up, and was very impressed by it all, though I have concluded, I don’t need one that fancy. My life really isnt that complicated. A calendar and a note book is all I need….unless, they make a planner that comes with a kick in the seat for motivation! Now, THAT’s one I will buy!
1. I never make lists
2. Complete waste of time & effort
3. Spontaneous that’s me
4. Answer question with sarcasm
5. Move on to next question
6. Now what was I going to do next…..
nope! if its important enough, ill remember it :)
@AnnieB I totally understand – many years ago the company used to pay for the calendars, AND in the very beginning, provided training to use them. I’ve adapted over the years to the system I follow. No I’m not too OCD for it, but having a monthly overview and other pages for the days really keeps me on track!
I make several kinds of lists. All old-fashioned boring paper ones. Things I have to do, things I have to fix or do PMs on,things I have to buy, places I have to go. Preventive maintenance items come off a master list governed by maintenance schedules for home systems and vehicles. On shopping lists routine consumables are listed first, everything else added on over the week.. Doing shopping or task completion, always done the same way, items are checked off and verified at the end of the week. The PM and repair logs are updated from the checklist.
dang right MsB, and you are always on my list!
Yes lists have something become a way of life, both in work and out some on paper and some on computer!
@Cotton101 And you’re always on mine too my friend
i always make lists, at the moment i have one in front of me with all the days on it and what i have to do on those days for the run up for christmas….
i know…... i squeak when i walk too !
At times, but I’m also a list loser.
@JustPlainBarb i’d like to think so but it usually goes wrong somewhere along the line!!
:)
I make lists. If I go to buy groceries and forget the list I feel lost and don’t know what to do. Kind of sad to be that depoendant on a slip of paper! I make lists of my bills, make lists of errands, made a list of the kids Christmas gifts because its eaiser to look at and see if everything is equal. Its funny I make so many lists because I’m kind of really disorganized. The lists help with that a little tho.
Yes.I’m also a list loser.lol!
Life is too short to waste time on lists…coming back from the grocery store is so much more thrilling when you shop without a list.
@Cruiser -yes,but did you really need a rhino??
@Cruiser -my rhino can beat up your rhino.
Absolutely—for groceries, errands, and work assignments! An aging memory is a fearsome thing.
@Austinlad Oh I know too well about an aging memory!!
I tape my list to my Rhino!
@lucillelucillelucille my rhino is already on her 2nd bottle of red are you sure you still think yours has what it takes to take down my rhino!
Now, that i am 66, i have come to rely on a “to do list” more than ever. if its not on the list, it does not get done that day. is this a sign of older age? probably so. i have little stick ‘em notes everywhere, including my car. the old memory is just not what it use to be. john
I am “The Queen of Sticky Notes”!!!! nuff said. lol Good Question Barb!!! (((HUG)))
Tis’ the season to make lists cause “He’s makin’ a list, checkin it twice. Gonna find out who’s naughty or nice. Santa Claus is comin’ to town”. <<SING IT!>>
.
I also have a list for all the gifts that I needed to buy for Christmas.
@Cruiser -I’m not sure…lets fight ‘em like Rock ‘em Sock ‘em robots!I’m red!
I do. It’s not just about things to do or things to buy. It’s the way I order the universe.
When my son was about 3, I found him intently making wiggly lines on a piece of paper. I asked him, “What are you doing?” “Making a list,” he said. I cracked up. I didn’t know it was genetic.
So I asked him, “What does it say?” He gave me one of those withering parents-are-so-dumb looks and said, “I don’t know, Mum. I can’t read yet.”
@lucillelucillelucille , the fight will have to wait, my rhino is passed out after the 4th bottle…I’ll thumb wrestle you in the meantime!
@lucillelucillelucille Only because I was shoveling snow and my hands are numb!! Wait till they thaw out and you are toast! Bring it on!!
@Cruiser -don’t be a baby!I lit my hand on fire trying to cook again. Now we’re even!
@lucillelucillelucille That still would not be fair….how about an old fashioned staring contest…first one blinks gets a pie in the face….ready….GO!......
Wham!Peach looks great with that cowboy hat you’re wearing!lol!
Yes.
I lead a structured life and lists help to keep things tidy.
Yes——Cool Whip—Howza bouta hat?
@Cruiser-I’m glad you like meatloaf pie!
