If you had $3000 to spend on vacation with your so where would you go? This would be 5 or 6 days in March.

Somewhere tropical. You can get some deals on those “all inclusive’ packages, where you get the flight, the hotel, the food for one price.
I say this as I am stuck in the house looking at a foot of snow.
Where are you starting from? What’s your pleasure; the great outdoors, big cities, flying, driving, horse and buggy, kids, (is “so” SO?), dressy adventure, casual clothes?
@Mandomike: What’s with that omnipresent answer?
I would go to one of those all inclusive bahama getaways or a cruise, I always wanted to go on a cruise.
I’ve gone on a few cruises, and I absolutely love it. Not only do you get to visit another country, but honestly the ship is my favorite part – there are comedians, vegas dancers, night clubs, a huge water slide on the deck, a casino, and the best food ever.
My favorite places I’ve gone were the Cayman Islands and Jamaica. Cozumel is overrated.
depends on what you want…. in north america, skiing @ vail, or whistler in western canada… turks and caicos if you want warm, beautifulness, and cruises are great because you can see so much. i went on an alaskan cruise once, and it was a little boring bc i was so young, but really cool. caribbean cruises are cool too!
Cozumel. In island on the Yucatan penninsula of Mexico with some of the world’s best coral reefs for diving.
If you like beaches than Hawaii.
If you like impressive buildings and art, the Vatican
If you like a small quiet Island, Guam (really great for relaxing)
If you like impressive natural beauty, Niagra falls, or the Grand Canyon. or Mt. St. Helen
or the Rocky Mountains
If you like American History, Washington DC
Yellowstone in the winter is utterly beautiful!
Isla Mujeres just off the coast of Cancun. Quiet, cheap and friendly. Forget Cancun, you can party at home.
Grand Cayman.
Why? Because we lived there for 6 months. It was amazing and I miss it more than ever.
@rhodes54 I went there for a vacation. I loved it.
I’m thinking Paris would be nice. :)
Perfect length, timing and finances for a first-rate Caribbean cruise for two, in a balcony stateroom. Each cruise line has a different demographic of clients, it seems. I don’t know enough about you to help you decide, or even what your temperament is. Although you will stop at some interesting, even exotic places; it’s all about the cruise itself. That’s what I found out, after yeas of avoiding them, thinking, “Oh, why not just get to where you’re going.” Then I took one and found out why many people love them so. It’s a perfect respite from the world, a bubble, a cocoon, swathed in the lap of luxury and comfort. Nothing to do but have fun, relax, eat fine cuisine, be pampered by attentive staff.
Some cruise lines are more for the youthful party set, others for people with children, etc. I avoid Carnival, and Disney for example. Too many kids, too much…much…hard to put my finger on it. For your price range, to procure a balcony cabin (a must, you won’t regret it), I’d look into Royal Caribbean, Princess, Norwegian (younger set). There’s 5–6 opportunities to eat per day, LOL, so my date and I powerwalk around the ship morning and afternoon, and utilize the gym. Pick one with island ports you like, some include airfare to departure ports, usually Florida, but there are others from the mid-Atlantic states to say, Bermuda, Puerto Rico, or from the Gulf Coast to Mexico, etc. Try it, you’ll like it.
