Do you need to have health insurance to buy Wal-Mart's $4 prescriptions?
Is that a requirement to purchase the medicine, or can people without insurance use this service, too?

So long as you have a valid prescription you can buy it. No insurance required.
Anyone can get the price. It is the price for certain generics. You can go on line and read the list.
you don’t need insurance
Anyone can use this.
Thanks, everyone. The reason I asked is that when I went to have a prescription filled, the pharmacist at Wal-mart said I could buy the medicine without insurance this time, but next time I’d have to present an insurance card. Next time, I am going to visit a different store and see if I get better results.
Just tell the pharmacist that you are self-pay. They won’t need an insurance card.
If they give you an issue try Target if you have one local with a pharmacy. I do not have insurance and buy the $4.generic prescriptions there without issue.
I think it is there for people who DON“T have insurance. It doesn’t cover all meds though.
@Judi Mostly, but people use it when their insurance has ridiculously high co-pays. Just don’t present you insurance card to Wal-Mart when filling the prescription.
Just one time for one prescription? i did not see that in their commercials on television. did you? WalMart is tricky. next time, ld, try Kmart.
You don’t need an insurance card, I think you just hit someone at the pharmacy who is an idiot. They only have certain drugs on the list that you can getthat cheap though. Makes no sense that they would be unwilling to SELL you drugs again.
Are you certain it was the pharmacist who told you that and not just a guy in a white coat who is an “associate” ( or whatever else the dimwit assistants are called)?
i had to join just to be able to comment on the comments! Thanks for the laughs! I love the “dimwit assistant” and the “some idiot” comments! We have all thought it but never said it! I remember seeing also name/title tags on employees at stores mentioning that joan was the “front end assistant” and we made comments on those “idiots” that they must be the “rear-end assistant”! lol but thanks for the info..i currently find myself unexpectedly without health insurance and good to know there is help out there! :)
