If i have the power to pardon just one person for Christmas and for the rest of their life, who would it be? your husband, your wife, your boy or girlfriend, father, mother, your child? who would it be and why?

Since none of my family is in jail right now ;-), I would like to see Amanda Knox pardoned. I think she is innocent and was railroaded by the Italian judicial system.

OJ Simpson so he could continue to look for the real killers !

i agree on grandmama from prison. carjacking? a little old for that nonesense. OJ is out of the question. i will consider Amanda Knox. anyone else?

I don’t know. You tell me.

But, since you are asking? No one. They are there for a reason.

Schapelle Corby – I don’t feel the penalty fits the crime and to be honest, don’t think she did it.

Speaking of OJ Simpson…........the police really made some major mistakes in their investigation. initially, they should have secured a search warrant before going over the wall like Superman. it would have been much more in their favor in court. next, the botched crime scene where everybody’s mother and grandmother trampeled through. and of course the gloves!. in the very first tv broadcast of the killings, the very first like a bulletin with video, they showed the crime scene with two gloves, not one, on the ground. you use imagination here. and, why did the airline stewardess that saw OJ board the plane with a wrapped hand, not testify in court? too many loose ends in that case. no wonder they found him not guilty.

The Iranian citizens who have been arrested and are now being tortured because they want more democracy in their nation.

Iranian citizens are a consideration. i really wish i had the power to help the innocent people that should be pardoned. it would make a Christmas gift that could never be equalled.

I think you might find a policeman reluctant to pardon a man who killed a police officer.

john65pennington's avatar

Killer of the police officer is out of the question and you know why. wait a minute. if DNA proved he was not the killer, then of course.

A friend of mine who is in prison now because he’s been institutionalized from being in prison too much. He went back in this last time deliberately, simply because he can no longer function in the outside world. So I guess it would be a waste of a pardon, because he’d just get himself arrested again. But I’d do it anyway because he’s a good person and a loyal friend and he doesn’t deserve that life.

How and when did his “permanent prisoner” status begin? it usually takes a persons lifetime to accomplish this title.

Ok; I know a young man who is 23 years old and doing ten years for armed robbery of a bakery .. I’d pardon him and here is why :

All during the time from when he was about 13 thru 17 ; his mother was always meeting men thru personals , having them move in and shack up for a couple of weeks or months . These men were allowed to discipline the boy during their stay since they were “Uncle so ‘n so ” ...

During that time he got into trouble several times and spent time in Juvenile Hall… until he was late 17 and ended up gettting in a fight and being tried as a adult .

He got out of Juvie and was doing good…. and planning to come down to Florida and live at my home since I’d known his grandmother and thought a change of scenery would help the boy.

His mother , in order to keep a reign on the kid , purchased a lawn care service for him ; BUT it did not change who he ran around with etc… and soon they had robbed the bakery and he got ten years….

I believe that IF he could live down here… start a clean slate and keep away from his former “friends and associates” that he’d be a pretty good and productive member of society.

Its really refreshing to find someone who really cares for a hopeful child in distress. you are to be commended for your concern. we sometimes know what we want and need to do, but society and the administration bars us from it. your intentions are good. i know this kid needs the help and guidance of a good human being. maybe it will work itself out for you and him. parents just do not realize or care what they do and what effect it has on their children. i have always said some humans care for no one else, other than themselves. in my book, thats called greed. thanks for the answer. john
