Do cell phones cause brain cancer or other types of brain disorders due to microwave emissions?

“AUGUSTA, Maine – A Maine legislator wants to make the state the first to require cell phones to carry warnings that they can cause brain cancer, although there is no consensus among scientists that they do and industry leaders dispute the claim.” :http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091220/ap_on_re_us/us_cell_phone_warnings

Supposedly they have done studies which all say they don’t cause brain tumors. I have never read the studies, so I have no idea how they conducted the studies, and exactly what they were measuring. I still think cell phones possibly do cause cancer. I once saw a show that had a woman that got a tumor in the area where her cell phone is always and she talked on the phone like 300 minutes daily. So that is much more than the normal person, and this is just one example. I guess it could be a coincidence?

It’s interesting how it was all anyone talked bout 3–4 years ago but now no one cares. Maybe in 10 years when we all get tumors we will care : )

It does emit radiation, bu not enough to do any damage. Its frequence is less than visible light so if it were true, we’d all have cancer from being exposed to light.

I don’t think it’s the cancer that you need to worry about.

@gymnastchick729: There’s a lot more skin cancer than there used to be, according to my dermatologist, who is getting rich fast. His office is overflowing with people.

being distracted by cellphones will probably claim more lives than any tumors they might cause. Time will tell.

Several years ago they did a profile on and several interviews with Richard Branson, the extremely rich British owner of multiple businesses including Virgin Airways, Virgin Records, and Virgin Mobile (cell phone co.)

This was long enough ago that the speaker option on a phone or earpiece attachments were not as popular as they are now. I’ll never forget seeing him sitting in the back of the limo, phone in his hand (NOT pressed to his ear) with an earpiece and fairly lengthy wire connected to the phone.

If the owner of a cellphone co. was going to those lengths to keep the phone away from his brain, what info is he privvy to that the rest of us did not yet have. That one image spoke volumes to me.

I always use my phone on speaker (unless it’s too noisy around me to hear well) mainly due to seeing that.

A picture is worth a thousand words sometimes. That was one of those times for me.

One thing to think about, if you are using an earpiece and wearing your phone on your belt, the phone is now near your reproductive organs, in some cases it might be very near to a woman’s ovary.

Cell phone use has not been identified as a risk factor for any form of cancer.

Cell phone use has not been identified as a risk factor for any form of cancer. The danger from cell phones comes from using them while driving. Doing so has been found to be more dangerous than driving while legally intoxicated. http://www2.potsdam.edu/hansondj/DrivingIssues/20060830105036.html

@ItsAHabit There was a new longterm study. I just saw a show about it on Larry King very recently, and I am convinced cell phones can lead to cancer. I still use mine, but I do not use my phone often. I’ll try to find a link to the particular episode.

@ItsAHabit I think this might be the episode, but I cannot get it to play http://www.clicker.com/tv/the-larry-king-podcast/Do-cell-phones-cause-cancer-907149.html maybe you will have more luck. If it is the right show It starts of with an expert saying he still basically believes the the new study shows their is not a relationship, but when you here the details of the study and the other experts, I find it pretty convincing that it is something to take seriously.
