How can I make other Sims stop running into my house and yelling at me?

Asked by troubleinharlem (7999points) December 20th, 2009 from iPhone

I don’t even know them and they knock over my dustbin for no apparent reason.

lurrrrve the sims, unfortunately I can’t find my game… You can delete them from the main menu can’t you? Are they other sims that the game has made up??

Hm. I’ve never had this problem before.
Which Sims are you playing?
I know the older versions would allow just about anybody to walk into your home and use your restroom and watch your television.
I don’t have that problem anymore on the newest one.

@sevenfourteen ; they were there already in the game.

I’d delete all the doors. Then nobody can bother you!!

@LeotCol ; then they’d die!

I’m assuming you’re playing Sims 2? If not, I don’t know if this helps, but in my experience Sims running into your house and yelling at you means you have a bad relationship with them. You may have never really talked with them, but at some point, whether out and about in a store or whatever, this Sim encountered your Sim and did not like you. If you look at your relationship section that shows all the Sims you have some sort of relationship with, it is likely that Sim will be on there and will have a red foreground and a negative relationship number. Once that negative number lowers and is back in regular numbers, the Sim won’t be angry with you anymore and will stop running into your house and harassing you.

@Frankie ; I haven’t ever met this one… maybe people are gossiping.

If you’re playing Sims 3 I think that is possible, but I’ve never played Sims 3 so I’m not very familiar with it (I’ve just read about the game and know that in Sims 3 you have a reputation within the community, so I’m assuming if your reputation isn’t great then that could be the answer), but if you’re playing Sims 2 it is, like I said before, possible that you could have never spoken to this Sim but he might have been in the same store/lot as you at one point, saw you, and just didn’t like you. If you’re on Sims 2 there should be a relationship section, so check that and see the relationship meter for this person. Either way, it should stop eventually (probably after a few days) once the Sim calms down, and if you’re playing Sims 3 then I guess do whatever you have to do to better your reputation in the community so it doesn’t keep happening.

I wonder if Sims use Fluther… wonder how many fun points it would provide?

On Sims 2, there’s an option to allow only family members through doors that you select.

Don’t know about Sims 3.

@SABOTEUR In my experience even that doesn’t stop them. They’re still somehow able to get in; I guess the people who made it decided to override that. And it’s weird because they run in, scream at you (sometimes shove you) and then run out, and you’re not even able to try and talk with them to ask them to leave because it happens so fast. I think it’s just supposed to be that way, all you can do is wait it out a few days until the Sim calms down and doesn’t have the negative relationship meter anymore.

If you are playing the very first sims game.. then I can’t help you with that… But- If you are playing the Sims 2, Sims 3 or Sims 4 there should be an option to lock your doors if you click on it! :) If they are still getting into your house, try a gate!
