Okay <sniff>...see that little red wire coming from the battery? NO….the RED one. Okay…take that red wire and hook it up to the transformer somewhere. You got that done? Alrighty…now take the black wire and put the end of it in your mouth. Now, wet your finger and touch the other bare pole on the transformer….but BE careful here because there’s more than meets the eye.

Before wiring the transformers, you need to state if it’s a coretype or a shell type transformer. In coretype, you have the coil on the outerside and the core on the innerside and in shell type you have the coil inside the core. The shell type arrangement needs less copper and more core and is more cost efficient as compared to the core type.On the other hand coretype needs more copper and less core.
.
The arrangement of the core is of various types too like LI shape.EI shape based on the type of the laminated sheets used. The core is not made up of a single chunk of Iron ,rather it’s built up of laminated sheets to dminimize the loss due to eddy current.
In shell type first of all the windings are wound across a wooden support and then laminated steets are inserted in the gaps. The gap left is filled with varnish and cotton.

That’s in a nutshell. Please get back to me if you need further details.
A word of caution:If you are not professionally trained in winding up of transformers, please don’t risk trying it.It might lead to loss of resources, material and may god forbid, life.

@engineeristerminatorisWOLV True that! Given the thin line between a transformer and a Tesla Coil, it’s pretty easy for an unwary person to zap themselves with enough juice to leave an exit wound.

@jerv Exactly.Sometimes we go in search of innovation neglecting the hidden troubles.Curiosity could be afforded as long as it’s backed by proper guidance and/or skills.
