Best set up for a simple personal website?

Asked by mattewing (13points) December 21st, 2009

What do folks think is the best set up for a simple personal website? I’d like it to look nicer than a blogging platform and can create hmtl pages pretty easily. Should I go with a web hosting service? If so, what recommendations do you have?

I’ve used Webs.com. It works pretty well.

Hi there.

I am not an expert, so most probably there are people here that can give more detailed answers to your question. When I found myself obligated to create a simple website I used weebly.com but I am not sure if that’s what you are looking for…

If you have the know how and the bandwidth, setting up your own web server is your best choice for many reasons, but, primarily because you have total control. Otherwise, using a hosting service is your next best choice but you need to find a host that supports features you need. Frankly, you don’t supply enough information to make a sound recommendation. So, just sign up for a free host and see what you think. I have used 000webhost and X10hosting and like both, but if you need a Windows platform, you’ll have to look elsewhere.
