What's the best multitool/pocket knife type for outdoors use?
I am looking for a comprehensive multitool e.g Swiss Army Knife, Leatherman, Gerber etc. which I can enjoy to use during outdoors activities. I would appreciate if specific information such as the brand and model of the best multitool is provided.

I carry my Leatherman “Wave” everywhere I go. There is hardly a day that goes by that I don’t use it for something. They are well designed, versatile, with a great range of practical tools.
Also in camp Leatherman. And they have a fantastic warranty.
Ditto on the leatherman. There are several around the house—in the cars, junk drawer, etc., and they get used all the time, not just for outdoor activities.
i had no use for a multitool until i stumbled on this page.
i have a pretty nice dremel on already.
But i just spent the last hour looking at all the leatherman multitools. Holy shit, i want them all. I really like this one
almost Everyone so far has said Leatherman for a reason. :)
@uberbatman the Skeletool is sick.
i prefer the Gerber. the one hand opening is important when fishing.i can control the fish and open and use the tool to remove the hook.
I have been carrying a Leatherman too since there was only one to choose from. I will never use anything else. I get a new one every few years Just because they get cooler and better. I currently have a Charge XTi but after seeing the Skeletool I might get one.
Add my vote to Leatherman. I didn’t know there were different kinds until I read this posting. When I bought mine there was only one version.
I carried a Swiss Army Knife for many years but they seemed so fragile and the tools were undersized and difficult to deploy.
I’ve owned a bunch of multi-tools and I think the best value is the Leatherman Wave. It’s an awesome multi-tool. The Leatherman Charge series are really nice, but at double the cost you don’t get that much more out of them. The LM Wave is the perfect balance of tools and quality. If you get one of the cheaper ones (such as the Kick) you’re not going to be impressed w/ the quality. FWIW, I’ve also owned a half-dozen of the Gerbers. They’re serviceable, but not nearly as nice as the Leatherman.
@Kru03 I have had both the Wave and the Charge. Both are excellent for daily use. The thing that sets the Charge apart is the Bit Kit of 42 different bits. I use it every day at work.
Every gaffer and grip, art department guy and craftsperson in the TV/ film jobs I’d ever had, from teeny tiny indie to Hollywood blockbuster used Leatherman.
Even my female roomie, who used to be a cinematographer for ultra-low-budget pictures, went and got herself one. She’s no longer a DP, but she still carries it in her purse.
