Rebroadcasting wifi from my laptop?

I don’t always have the wifi connected in my house, and can pick up another network on my laptop. The problem is that my ipad can’t pick it up, and sometimes I need to use that. I need a way to be able to rebroadcast the wifi that I pick up on my laptop so that my ipod could pick it up. I would like a fair range so I could have my laptop running and I can walk around my house with my ipod. I was also wondering if there was a way to hook up to a password protected network (Mine, of course) and rebroadcast it without a password, or one that I choose so that friends could use it but not have the main wifi password. Any help is appreciated.
