Maximum RAM for older macbook?

Asked by rufuswashere (26points) December 25th, 2009

I’m confused about maximum RAM my older macbook can take. Here’s the info from the System Profiler:

Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook1,1
Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Number Of Processors: 1
Total Number Of Cores: 2
L2 Cache: 2 MB
Memory: 2 GB
Bus Speed: 667 MHz
Boot ROM Version: MB11.0061.B03

Can I upgrade to 4 GB? Thanks!

Go through your manufacturer site or manual

According to support.apple.com, the maximum memory for mid-2007 and older MacBooks is 2 GB. For late 2007 and newer, you can go up to 4 GB. Here’s the page

I running on memory here. But I am pretty sure 2GB is the max in that model. This is a limitation of the the chipset from Intel and not something that the OS can do anything about.

My iMac is in the same boat.
