There are three epochs, the supernatural, the natural and the unnatural.
I’d add the Cold War to the eras that have been said so far.
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy has this to say on the subject:
“The History of every major Galactic Civilization tends to pass through three distinct and recognizable phases, those of Survival, Inquiry and Sophistication, otherwise known as the How, Why and Where phases.
“For instance, the first phase is characterized by the question How can we eat? the second by the question Why do we eat? and the third by the question Where shall we have lunch?”
If it’s homework, then it’s eras.
The so-called Progressive Era- 1960’s to Present.
Ugh…
I grew up in the 50s. It was the Eisenhower conservative era. By the mid-sixties, the free speech movement had moved from the west to the east coast. It was hippies, burn-the -bra-and draftcard, sex, drugs, rock and roll, war protests and Woodstock.
The Beat Generation applies to the writers and artists who emerged in the fifties but not the common folk, like me.
OOH! I nearly forgot!
I theorize there is a fourth phase to civilization’s history.
The Sexual Phase
Characterized by the question ”Who shall we eat?”
Gold Rush Era
Exploration Age (first world round voyage, etc)
@proXXi ( Sorry, but if you are determined to eat people (anthropophagy), it’s Whom.)
The Nineties. Never has a perfect storm of phenomena been so neatly encapsulated into a decade.
