Have any Flutherites heard or read the phrase "Slightly higher in the West and South" as related to advertising?

What does it mean?

Pleez?!

..—is that small square of paper near the bathroom a hit of acid? .. I could so enjoy that right now—..

No. I have heard “Slightly higher in Canada” but that may be due to the rate of exchange and the fact that both the US and Canada use dollars.

I have no idea what that small piece of paper is. I wouldn’t put it in my mouth if I were you. Paper on the floor near bathrooms is often something you don’t want to ingest.

Back in the day (60s/early 70s) the children’s TV show Captain Kangaroo was sponsored by Schwinn (bicycles). They would do a promo spot for a particular model of bike (not a taped commercial; an actual live-action promo on the set), and at the end the spokesmodel doing the promo would say the price. Then a voice-of-God voiceover would say “Slightly higher in the West and South.” I remember I felt soooo sorry for the kids in the West and South!
