I’m sure that in the main tourist areas of Manhattan, many will be open by mid to late afternoon.

I’m concerned for you that this is such a pressing question. Are you sure you need a drink that badly?

Yellow pages.

Telephone. If they answer, likely they are open :)

@Buttonstc, What’s a Yellow Pages?

@Dr_Lawrence, Needing a place to drink on Christmas?

If you have to ask…

@proxxi

I guess you are not originally from the US ?

The yellow pages are the business listing in the phone book.

Also available online at

yellowpages.com

OHH!!

I thought those were stops for the front door of my building with adverts on them.

Is there anything ironic about Yellowpages.com?

I hope you’ll forgive me @Buttonstc for making a funny at your expense.

I’m so sorry. I know what the Yellow Pages are.

It just seems strange to see them referenced in these times of voice activated Google for Mobile.

Merry Holidays : )

Until they do more work on the voice recognition part of it, they are not the be all and end all YET.

Pardon me all to death for being enough of a Luddite to recommend something one can actually LOOK AT rather than wrestling with a faulty voice recognition system.

It may not be your choice of an answer but it was mine.

Please also pardon me for taking your query at face value when you asked what yellow pages were.

I SHOULD have gone with my first instinct to make a snarky crack asking under which rock had you been hiding. However, on the off chance that you might be a young foreign student, I opted for a kinder more trusting approach.

Upon further reflection, I should have gone with the snark, Mr. Irony. You have my sincerest apologies. I won’t be making the mistake of taking what you say at face value again. I’m in the habit of learning from my mistakes.

Jesus Christ! This is what I get for making Two unsolicited apologies to you?

I was merely making an observation about the evolution of technology. C’mon treehuggers! Back me up on this one!

Good idea of yours, as I never make comments here that should be taken at face value.

I’m not saying I get every obscure reference or joke myself. If I don’t I just let it go.

You should do the same, it will save you a ton of typing.

Well, you must have edited in that last sentence where you apologized for being funny at my expense as it wasn’t there when I read it. I don’t normally read backwards in threads and clicking on a thread I’m following, takes me to MY last post NOT any other persons post I’m not psychic either so until I just read your recent response I was totally unaware of the added apology edited in afterwards.

When people are kidding around, they normally make SOME type of indication of such.

Smileys are common all over the Internet. A tilde is peculiar to Fluther so I don’t expect that to be widely known. Even the much overused LOL would have given a clue. Tone is difficult to gauge, especially on the Internet and my psychic skills just aren’t up to par.

And I am planning to pass your comments by frequently in the future since I don’t possess adequate mind reading skills.

I did not add apologies to my posts after the fact.

I believe my apologizing for “making a funny at your expense” was generous because it was never my aim to insult you (which didn’t happen). Rather, my Yellow Pages question was most effective if directed at you. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_act. It was not a personal attack.

I’m fully aware of how to emote online. I was exercising my right to be subtle. Nowhere is it written that I must ruin a joke by making it too obvious.

I don’t get bent out of shape because I don’t immediately comprehend everything I read here. Follow my lead.

Peace out.

Here’s my two cents: Reading the thread, thought the asker was a Jewish (or other non-Christian) businessman or foreign student. Especially after the yellow pages remark. Humour is in the eyes of the beholder, but that wasn’t even remotely funny. @Buttonstc was offended, and you took the low road. I would’ve just apologized.

ZEN OUT

I didnt make any of the comments about the yellow pages and im the original poster.

Also im not Jewish, merely pointing out the fact that Jesus was.
