When a questioned is pushed to editing, why does the lurve stay?

Asked by scotsbloke (3756points) December 29th, 2009

just wondered.
How come, when we’ve had a question pushed to editing, (say it was a duplicate and the questioner decides to bin the question) but already had answers and earned this “Lurve” thing you guys have, well, how come we keep the lurve earned on that question?
Shouldnt we lose those points?
(let me just say I have no problem with my question being binned as it’s a duplicate and I appreciate questions do need edited, however belatedly)
or is this another indication of why I just don’t get this Lurve thing?
Am I making the Lurve thing more complicated than it needs to be?
I’m genuinely interested.

It still was deemed a great answer and deserves credit even if the question was pulled for editing. Sometimes the answers are far better than the questions. And yes, you probably are making the lurve thing more complicated than you need to. But that’s cool.

You are probably right, me focussing too much on stuff…......, But I’d hate anyone to lose points, or Lurve because my question was pulled, so I just wondered like…...........lol

also because it’s not that serious.

I was miffed a few days ago because I fired off – what I thought was – a great quip and then the question was pulled so no-one got to see it. But hey – what you gonna do? It’s not like this is real life, although it feels that way at times.

of course this is real life. what else would it be?

to think of all those great quips languishing in the dust bin of moderated questions, oh the horror!!

They stay as a consolation prize !! Either that or a year supply of Rice-A-Roni.

I am not sure this is right, but I have noticed that you retain the lurve, but you don’t get new lurve until that old amount is matched. Let me give you an example.
Let’s say I have 100 lurve. In an answer to a new question, I recieve 30 lurve for 6 Great Answers. Then, that question is put up for editing, and withdrawn.
I now have 130 lurve, even though the question is gone.
The next question I answer gets 7 Great Answers. The first 6 will not add to my lurve, to match the lurve I recieved on an edited question. The 7th GA will give me 5 lurve.
