Can someone explain to me why, when a certain thread is getting really long, there are those who come in and complain about it?

Why don’t they just quit following?
Not only long threads, but those discussions that, I guess, some don’t want to be allowed here at all. You know….the, “I’m so sick of hearing about this!” comments, comming into a thread where several people are talking, minding their own business, people who obviously are NOT sick of hearing about it! If someone doesn’t like a question, or a thread, why not just ignore it and go on? Why MUST they comment?
I don’t understand that…

Because they need a cookie. Or a muffin. Or maybe some chocolate.
Maybe they have questions that are getting a low number of answers while everyone they’re looking for are over on another question.
Then again. there are subjects that have been discussed to death. Religion, politics, immunizations, 2012 being the end of the world… There are so many things that have been discussed to the point where no new information is likely to be introduced and its just a rehash. Who knows.
Have a cookie!
They probbaly wouldn’t say that if they were part of the conversation haha.
I have three ideas..
1. To get noticed or to move the attention to themselves
2. Had a bad day and figured it’s okay to take it out on fluther so that would make them a “fluthermucker”
3. Don’t have anything nice to say and they are just plain evil
@avvooooooo Oh, sure. I know there are things that have been talked to death, but if other people wish to continue talking, why can’t the folks who are tired of it just leave them be? It’s like…people are in another room, and somebody comes busting in yelling, “Quit talking about that! I’m tired of hearing about it!” Well…leave the room!!
I’ve actually seen this happen several times and I can’t understand it either. If they stop following the question they don’t even get notified of the new activity. Don’t like it, leave seems like a pretty simple thing to me.
Enough already gawwwwdddd
Well, this may or may not be relevant, but I have been wondering if some people, especially newcomers, are confused by the “Questions for You” section and think that they are under some obligation to post.
I started wondering this lately when seeing a number of responses that essentially say “I don’t know”—a completely useless and worthless response to a question, but perhaps a reasonable one if the person thinks he or she is expected to respond. (I think I even saw someone say something like “I don’t know why I was asked to answer this, because I don’t have an answer.”)
In that case I suppose the person might also wonder why he or she is being asked to answer on a thread that is already long.
People get poopy, they get irritated when they see people having a good time together or discussing something they think is silly. I’ve been there, you know how much I crab at sparkly gifs, cute kitty cat things, talk about cookies and pictures of sweet children.
I’ve only been here 2 months. I have not talked these things to death. I was not on another Q&A site. I would like to talk about religion, sex, etc. I’m sure you want to keep this site vibrant.
@faye Noooooo….not….SEX!!!!....No!!!!!!.... Not THAT thing again? Noooooo!
@faye You made my point. Just because “everyone you know” has talked these things “to death” doesn’t mean that everyone has talked these things to death!
@avvooooooo oatmeal this time??? K?.......Hey. Look. Don’t you get Off Topic, girl, and don’t try to get ME Off Topic!! I’ll put the hurt on you!
@Sueanne_Tremendous Big Grin! LOL!!!
@Silhouette Yip.
Some people only feel happy when they can attempt to hurt others. I believe this is because they dislike themselves .
We should all ignore them.
Honestly there is a lot less people on here like that than other sites .
