Do people generally wear shoes or socks when doing yoga, or are they barefooted?

…things I should already know, but I seem to be drawing a blank…about to go to my first yoga class in a really long time.

Barefoot is preferred. Socks make your feet slippery and therefore dangerous. Shoes keep you from using your balancing muscles and ligaments properly. Plus, barefoot allows you to interpret sensation/feedback about your pose.

Bare Feet, I get a Pedicure so my feet grip the floor good!

Barefoot.
I worked in a yoga studio, and you couldn’t wear shoes past the entrance.

Usually barefoot. Shoes and socks would probably slip on a yoga mat. But sometimes if it is really cold and my feet are freezing, I can get away with wearing the socks with the rubber treads on the bottom.

Barefoot with a good sticky mat preferably your own!

I do Bikram – we go barefoot and barely dressed.

@filmfann there is also a bikram yoga studio for gay men and they can do it naked

Yeh – me too @Simone_De_Beauvoir – nothing like the freedom of Little…

@phil196662 I am quite jealous and I think they should allow everyone to do it.

Absolutely- I wear tights and cut T and the wife wears short-shots and a tiny crop! Clothes are over rated!
