Have you or anybody been involved in a car "Accident"?

Asked by Dr_Lawrence (20019points) December 30th, 2009

Accident implies by short definition “an act of God.”

A car accident would be a result of such factors as a flash flood, landslide not due to human negligence, a hurricane, a tornado or a volcano.

Car Crash encompasses a wider range of potential causes for vehicular crashes than does the term accident. A majority of fatal crashes are caused by intoxicated, speeding, distracted, or careless drivers and, therefore, are not accidents.

My car jumped a ditch and landed on a grassy knoll.I think it was trying to assassinate me!

It’s never happened to me personally, but such accidents do happen. for example a tree uprooted in a storm falls into a road on top of a car. Or an earthquake breaks a bridge and all the cars on it are dumped into the river.

God wrecked my car?
Totally using that.

A couple of decades ago, York Minster (a cathedral in England) was struck by lightning, partially destroying the roof. I wondered, at the time, if the insurance claim listed the cause as “act of God”?

Icy roads, at a 4-way stop. When I was finally able to stop my car, the car behind me wasn’t…totalled my car….

My sister was involved in three accidents last year. She likes to think she’s just unlucky, I’d say she’s just a bad driver.

I found black ice while trying to pass a slow truck on a 2 lane highway. I clipped his bumper and seemed to fly through the air into a snow filled field. I think I shortened the truck drivers life!!! the only thing wrong with me and my ‘75 acadian was the horn didn’t work. He pulled me out. Probably the nicest accident anyone could have.

My friend had her windshield broken in the tornado that hit Edmonton in’87 by baseball sized hail. It was covered by insurance but the deductible almost paid it so she didn’t claim.

My Husband was driving. A Women ran a stop sign in a residential neighborhood. She was doing over forty in a twenty or less mile per hour zone. The Kids were playing on the street. She was on something.
I had a Year of Physical Therapy and returned to the Gym after a Year. My Husband had several Surgeries on his month.
My Husband had no way to prevent the accident we couldn’t avoid her. She ram the Car . It flew through the air. It was totaled .

“Yeah”, “I” “have had” “a few” “accidents” “in my time”.

Auto accidents are non-existent. someone is always at-fault.

Car crashes can actually be described as anything.

@john65pennington, I don’t know how else to characterize them. It wasn’t deliberate on my account, and I don’t think other guy (or the parked oil truck in one, or the ditch in the other) had any intent to do me harm.

I flipped a Ford Taurus Wagon on invisible black ice, but I should have been driving at 5 mph, given the weather. I ended up hanging by my seat belt from the floor. The buckle was so painful digging into my breast bone that I unclipped it and fell onto the ceiling.

My mother was driving my brother home from a doctor’s appointment one winter day up north, and another driver hit some black ice and ended up t-boning my mom’s car, giving my brother, who was already ill with the flu, a concussion.

Otherwise, a tree fell on my carport one time, dinging the roof of my car.

I don’t know bout all that God stuff, but I was in a car accident once.

Mind you, it was extremely minor. Nobody was hurt, and both vehicles took insignificant damage. It was still quite scary though.

I also broke a fingernail.

In fact, I had one a few weeks ago. I just flew into our local airport threw my bags in the car and started home. .3 miles from the airport (I have a GPS) a deer ran into my car. Its hooves cut groves in my hood and body shattered the windshield and the air bags fired. The deer ran away with very minor injuries and I was left with a terrible smell from the air bag propellant.

I would like to add that the policeman was very nice about it and we determined that the car was safe to drive but gave me his number if I had problems. He later called as I was entering town to see if everything was alright. My car now looks brand new, the body shop did excellent work.

I had an accident some years back, based on this definition.
I was rounding a curved bridge in wet conditions at only 30 or 40Kpm [probably only 20Mph], when coming down the slight decline the other side, the car just suddenly slid and turned around to face the opposite direction and ‘backed’ into a tree. Of course, because I was travelling so slowly and by God’s grace, nothing was coming the other way, no great problem caused.
But the next guy coming on that side slowed down apparently when he saw what was happening. He stopped of course, and suggested there must have been some fine oil slick on the road and that it could have happened to anyone.
But to me, the car just keep sliding across the road in slow motion. Of course, the mere fact that it was then travelling downhill didn’t help mattersLOL!
