Wondering about your off-the-wall dreams?
It seems that most people have had strange dreams, and I’m just curious what yours entail.
I once had a dream about my boyfriend and I breaking up. We were characters in the classic Mario game. I fought my way through the castle to meet him, and instead of either defeating the other, I simply gave up.
As a child, I dreamed that my house was only the unfinished structural walls. In the middle of the night, I got up to check on a noise. I went down two flights of stairs with a knife in my hand in the dark and found my father wounded in the hall closet. He was taken out on a stretcher and turned out just fine.
Later as a child, I dreamed that I was at my grandmothers house and being chased by a masked murdered up the stairs. I made it, but woke up as soon as I reached the top of the stairs.
I’m not looking for an explanation of what my dreams meant. Instead, I would just like people to share their odd dreams.

My dad died many years ago, but I have had this recurring dream every since:
I am on one side of a creek then there is a hill. My dad is on the hill and he is waving me to come over. He never speaks, just waves me over. He is always wearing the same thing, a plaid dress shirt, brown slacks.
I have too many to name, the most recent one I had I was flying around until I met ironman. He was chasing me around but his suit ran out of juice so I was laughing at him, but then I couldn’t fly anymore so he started running towards me then the dream ended.
I used to have a recurring dream that involved a skull on a spit. I was poking a soft part of bone around the eyehole when sad, sad blue eyes opened up, looking at me. This was happening in my old schoolground.
@faye That’s such an interesting image. It’s… creepy as hell, but carries a lot of emotional overtones.
Usually my dreams are scary or weird and they’re just a collection of random images and events, but I had a pretty bitchin dream the other night that actually had a plot. My sister and I ruled this Ancient Egypt-like place. In real life, I’m a year older than her, so I was the queen and she was second in line for the throne. She wanted the job a lot more than I did, and I had fallen in love with a peasant guy who I obviously couldn’t marry. So I faked my own death and ran away with him to a neighboring kingdom, where we started a successful business.
Meanwhile my sister was a very ambitious queen, and the kingdom she ruled was powerful and warlike. So she started invading everything around, including the place where I lived. She discovered that I wasn’t dead and threatened to have my husband and I executed for treason, but we ended up somehow reconciling and decided to change the laws and split our responsibilities. At the end of the dream there was a parade.
The plot of this dream is pretty formulaic, but I’m just psyched that I had a dream that actually has a plot, including a beginning, middle and end. The settings were very detailed and actually coherent, which is also unusual for a dream. There were dusty city streets, palm trees, deserts, and everyone was wearing white linen. I’m kind of irritated that my dream-self would want to abdicate to marry some guy. If that were the plot of a book, I’d be pissed off at the message that the author is sending to women. Mostly, my dreams don’t make any sense, or I don’t dream at all. Once I had a dream where everything was made of legos.
@Haleth Very interesting dream! I don’t think I’ve had such a complete and coherent dream before. And the lego dream must have been fun.
@Haleth…...Wow….I love that dream…that sounds like a past life dream, actually.
I have a lot of dreams….and write them all down. Dreams have subconscious meaning.
I learned to interpret dreams from a woman shaman….this is what she said:
1. The dreamer tells the dream to a trusted friend. Don’t let the friend interrupt it is told. Start it with ” I ”....as in “I am in this house….” In the present tense.
2. Have the friend tell the dream back to the dreamer using second person…in other words saying: ”You are in this house…you see this woman….” If the friend gets some of the parts wrong, it is fine to correct him/her as it is being told so that the dream is recounted correctly. No discussion, just correction if the friend is forgetting something or needs help.
As the first two steps are done, do not discuss anything, just tell it straight with no embellishment.
3. Have the dreamer draw a picture of the dream. Just the images that come to mind as they recall it.
4. Show the picture to the friend…and then let the dreamer give the interpretation of the dream….and have a discussion on the images, symbols and what they might mean.
I had a crazy dream last night.
Was walking down a road, a high hill to the right and a cliff to the left that was extremely long and ended at the ocean below. A gusher of water came over the hill and pushed me over the edge of the cliff. I fell and fell and fell and fell it was a long way down. Hit the sand with a thud, also hit my head. When I stood up I could not remember where I lived. All the other people were rushing to their homes and I didn’t know where to go. The back of my head hurt also.
Then all these people were collecting little silver balls some the size of marbles some the size of golf balls. For some reason they thought they were valuable. Later in the dream I learned metal was taken to the airport and hammered down into little sorta kinda balls by some big machine and then thrown into the ocean. The little metal objects were tossed around in the ocean water and sand, magically becoming silver balls that were washed back on shore for everyone to gather. I walked by everyone while trying to remember where I lived, thinking they had lost it to think those silver marbles were worth anything. They were all in a rush to grab them quickly before anyone else could. Suddenly a big wave washed over me and into a beautiful lagoon. There were those little silver marbles all over the place. I thought wow here I am with all these silver marbles. I picked one up to see what the big deal was, this marble was perfect and beautiful while the others were not special at all. Suddenly there were all kinds of people standing at the top of the lagoon looking. No one was rushing in to gather up the marbles. I put the one marble in my pocket and told them they could have all the rest. I didn’t want any except this one. End of dream.
When I woke up the back of my head hurt…..weird. Oh I forgot to say the marbles were
shiny like chrome. Only the one I had however was perfectly round and perfect in every other way.
