Does anyone know a good way to generate traffic/followers on your blog?
I was looking for a simple way to generate traffic over to my blog(s). I have two blogs…one is just on my life (mostly through photos) and the other is political. I’m hoping for three…with the last one connected to my business.
I’m relatively new to blogging and finding it a bit daunting. But I really do enjoy working on them…the writing isn’t the problem…I like the networking aspect of finding like-minded bloggers to exchange ideas with….but no one is finding me!
Like a nerd, I even emailed people who had similar blogs——and said, “Would you sign up to follow my blog?” And a few did…but the others must have thought I was a total geek.
I use blogspot…and I’ve been blogging for about 8 months and the more personal one is new.
Any ideas or information would be most appreciated.

Many people swear by twitter.
Use a twitter feed to automatically tweet new blog entries. Then connect your twitter to a facebook account. Become active on boards that deal with the interior aspects of your business and put your blog address in your signature. Be sure to also put your blog url on email signatures and join online registries for your business.
Do what I do !! Post Nude Pix
No one gives a fig if you tweet about new blog entries. If I care about your blog, I’ll subscribe to it — I don’t need announcements.
“Generating traffic/followers” is not the reason for maintaining a weblog. You should write because you have something to say. So say it, and if anyone is reading — any single person, yay. If you’re interested in networking, you’re in it for the wrong reason.
I’m wondering why you would want to? I have only people I invite on my blogs.
Do you blog regularly and have something new/unique to say? That’s the reason I follow the blogs I do.
Here is an article titled “16 Ways to Drive Traffic to Your Blog”, which has some vey useful tips.
well lots of great suggestions have been posted by many of the great user. Twitter is really a great source from which you can gather handsome public. but one think for sure avoid pornography. It can help but still if your blog is for general public why create nuisance.
My blog suddenly became a lot more public after I started posting links on facebook everytime I had a new entry. I think my friends also found it easier to leave comments.
I think facebook is a great place to start, particularly if your blog begins with the personal. And then, if you really write kick-ass entries of interest more generally, your friends will post it to their wider circle. If you are lazy you can have the Networked Blogs application publish automatically to your page.
Hi…..thank you for your suggestions.
To clarify….I suppose I used the wrong wording…“generate traffic” made it sound like I was attempting to bring 14,000 people a day to my silly little blog. I really just wanted to find people who also like the same things I like…..similar blogs with similar content and hence, similar people….to share information…not “network” in some gigantic way.
I do have friends that follow my blog…but they don’t necessarily share my interests….if that makes sense.
Thank you for the suggestions…I am going to follow them up.
