Windows Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
This is what I keep getting when I want to open some downloads from my driver.
AppName: explorer.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.5512 ModName: mpeg2dmx.ax
ModVer: 2.0.84.30429 Offset: 0000dff3
I installed Microsoft XP on my computer a couple of days ago because I had Vista and I didn’t like it. Everything worked perfectly except this. I don’t know what to do. Should I reinstall Vista on my computer again. I tried it with a virus program and Internet/Control Panel options but no help. PLEASE HELP. Thanks:

Whatever program owns ‘mpeg2dmx.ax’ is likely to be the problem. It’s probably an “Explorer extension”—a 3rd party DLL which hooks into Explorer, and can potentially crash it. Google that name, find out what product it belongs to, and either uninstall the product or search for a solution.
Why are you using IE 6? Move up to IE 8. Will most likely solve your problem(s). For that matter, do ALL of the XP updates. This should solve many problems.
Edited by me for not reading the question carefully.
It’s windows explorer, not internet explorer. Switching to Firefox or upgrading to IE 8 won’t help.
make sure you run software updates and virus scan anything you download from online in the future.
Followup idea: I completely understand your rejection of Vista and going back to XP. I did the same. But Windows 7 is quite a lot better than both Vista and XP, so you might want to consider going forward instead of backward to escape Vistahell.
Throw your Windows through the window. That’s what it’s for.
