Lots of people join and ask a simple question just to experience how Fluther works. Over time, our users tend to use it for the many questions that are best answered by real people.

You’re so darn understanding, Ben. :-)

Some of them are probably from people who don’t use the computer much and don’t know how to figure it out themselves. I think others like to piss us off! ;)

I thinkit also allows people to voice opinions or feel like they are being helpful. I think this is a great site. Although the In ternet can bring alot of human interaction I think it has also taken alot of interaction between human being away. I think a site like this promotes interaction rather then reading info on a website and having no variation in the theme.

Possibly because there are some questions that are too specific for Google or Wiki… case in point: the other day a friend asked if the PS3 was backward compatible with the PS2 (he heard the higher models were, the lower ones weren’t). Well, I couldn’t get a straight answer from Google, it was mostly hardware sites trying to sell one to me. So I think this site might be better suited for real-life questions.

paul: that’s not the kind of question i was talking about

johnny: asking questions that can be found more quickly on google to other people does not provide any meaningful human interaction. if you are so lonely that you ask others online what 2+2 is you should get out more.

Well you don’t have to be rude about it actually I a not lonely at all all I was simply stating is getting an answer from a human is a little more meaningful then some website with the same thing typed on it forever. I think respect is also something everyone enjoys here nobody seems to belittle anyone comments or suggestions…..:-p

I use both. In fact, I think I stumbled into fluther during a google search. I like the human interaction, and being able to look at different angles to Q&A . You can’t get that using google. I agree with johnny0313x.

Possibly the same reason people ask this same question over and over.

The time involved in the search may not provide the answer they are looking for.
Have you ever looked through all those results.
Some people here do not like the questions because they don’t want to do someone’s research for them. I don’t mind those questions because I like doing research especially if the subject of the question interests me. I’ve found several interesting topics to look into I would not have otherwise looked into.

I say ask the questions you feel are important to you and answer the questions that you want to participate in.
